The mountain running race in the heart of the Valle Cervo in Tavigliano
The Tavian Tourist Trophy is a mountain running race that transforms Tavigliano—a village in the Province of Biella nestled in the stunning Valle Cervo—into a hub for athletes and enthusiasts from across Piedmont every year. The event was born from the initiative of a group of local athletes with a clear goal: to promote the region and share the most beautiful corners of the valley through sport.
Since its first edition, the race has grown rapidly, becoming a staple in the Biella running calendar. The 2026 edition, the fourth, marked a significant step up: the race was officially included in the federation calendar as a qualifying event for the FIDAL Piedmont Regional Mountain Running Championship (classic specialty, uphill and downhill), attracting over 175 athletes and awarding regional titles across various categories.
The course winds along the trails surrounding Tavigliano, featuring challenging elevation gains and panoramic views across the valley. The race offers multiple distances designed for different age groups: a long course for competitive categories, a shorter one for juniors and experienced masters, and a reduced trial dedicated to younger runners. This variety makes the Tavian Tourist Trophy a celebration of sport suitable for the entire community.
Beyond the competition, the day is an opportunity to discover Tavigliano and the Valle Cervo, supported by the warm hospitality of numerous volunteers and the patronage of the Municipality of Tavigliano. The event is organized by ASD Atletica Santhià in collaboration with Climb Runners and GSA Valsesia, organizations that have been driving the Piedmontese running scene for years.
