Tastings, live music, and Vesuvius-area products in Piazza Garibaldi
Taste of Vesuvio is the event that San Giuseppe Vesuviano, in the province of Naples, dedicates to the gastronomic, productive, and cultural excellence of the Vesuvius area. The heart of the festival is Piazza Garibaldi, where a culinary trail is set up involving food sector businesses, producers, and local operators: tasting stalls, gourmet offerings, and stories of the flavors born at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. The underlying idea is simple yet successful: to transform the main square into a showcase of Vesuvius excellence, where people eat, taste, and listen to music under the June sky.
The festival was born in 2025: on Saturday, June 7th, the square hosted the first edition, with the food and beverage area opening at 6:00 PM followed by an evening concert by the Neapolitan band La Maschera. The public response convinced the municipal administration to relaunch, and in 2026 the event doubled: no longer just one evening, but two days, Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th, with a broader artistic program alongside the food and wine stands. It is a rapid growth that shows how the initiative has already become a staple in the town's summer calendar.
Alongside the food, the artistic project is designed to attract audiences from the entire Vesuvius area and give the square a festival soul. These are the musical events documented so far:
The food and wine trail brings together restaurateurs, wine merchants, artisans, and producers from San Giuseppe Vesuviano and neighboring Vesuvius municipalities. The organizers have defined it as a multisensory experience to tell the story of the territory through its most authentic flavors: not just a simple fair of stands, but an itinerary where every stall is an opportunity to learn about a supply chain, a traditional dish, or a small local business. The formula thus combines product quality, territorial identity, and concrete support for the town's economic fabric.
Taste of Vesuvio is promoted by the municipal administration of San Giuseppe Vesuviano. The 2025 edition took place under the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Naples, while the 2026 edition is part of the Metropolitan Events Calendar 2025-2026. The presentation was attended by Mayor Michele Sepe, the Councilor for Culture and Events Andrea Ementato, and the Councilor for Commerce and Productive Activities Valentina Scudieri: the stated goal is to offer the city an experience that combines quality, beauty, and community spirit, enhancing the roots of the territory and giving visibility to local businesses and producers.
The town is part of the Vesuvius National Park municipalities, in that Vesuvius hinterland of Campania where quality agriculture coexists with a dense network of artisanal and commercial activities. It is a context that explains the dual soul of the event: on one hand, the flavors of the Vesuvius countryside, and on the other, the productive pride of a community that uses the square as a meeting place. Those who arrive for the festival can easily combine the visit with a trip to Mount Vesuvius and other centers in the area.
Following the success of the first edition, the 2026 edition of Taste of Vesuvio took place on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 in Piazza Garibaldi, in the heart of San Giuseppe Vesuviano. The square was transformed into a culinary trail with stands from restaurateurs, producers, and local operators, dedicated to the gastronomic excellence of the Vesuvius area.
The artistic program accompanied the food and wine section on both evenings: Saturday with Nostalgia 90, one of the most popular musical formats in Italy, which brought the greatest hits of the nineties back to the square with music, entertainment, and stage effects; Sunday with the concert of Enzo Avitabile and the Bottari, for an evening of singer-songwriter music that combined folk tradition, musical research, and international influences.
The event, promoted by the Municipality of San Giuseppe Vesuviano and included in the Metropolitan Events Calendar 2025-2026, aimed to enhance local excellence by creating opportunities for gathering and supporting the territory's economic fabric.
Piazza Garibaldi, in the center of San Giuseppe Vesuviano (NA), ZIP code 80047. The culinary trail area and the stage for performances are set up in the square itself.
The event takes place in an open-air public space: in the 2025 edition, admission was free for everyone. Consumption and tastings at the stands follow the price lists of individual exhibitors.
Late June evenings: light clothing, but a sweatshirt might be useful after the concert. For updated times and the final program, it is advisable to check the channels of the Municipality of San Giuseppe Vesuviano and the local press in the days leading up to the event.
