The Tarquinia Agricultural Machinery Exhibition and Market traces its roots back to the ancient Goods and Livestock Fair that animated the city for centuries. In 1949, during the post-war recovery, the event adopted its current name, coinciding with the spread of the first agricultural machines in the Italian countryside. The success was immediate: by the third edition, the fair had to move from the historic center to Tarquinia Lido, where it is still held today across a 50,000-square-meter exhibition area along the sea. With over seventy-five editions behind it, it is considered one of the most authoritative and well-established agricultural exhibitions on the national scene.

The heart of the fair: agricultural machinery

The core of the event remains the agricultural machinery exhibition: the best dealerships in the sector present tractors, combine harvesters, equipment, and cutting-edge technologies, with field demonstrations and direct meetings between producers, cooperatives, and professionals. Surrounding this beating heart are numerous other sectors: nurseries with ornamental plants, organic goods and regional products, nautical equipment, cars and motorcycles, handicrafts, gardening, furniture, and renewable energy.

The Agriculture Village and Maremma tradition

A major highlight of recent editions is the Agriculture Village, an interactive exhibition space designed for families, featuring cows, oxen, sheep, goats, and ponies, as well as educational workshops and skill tests. The 2026 edition focused on the world of horses, celebrating Maremma traditions, the culture of the 'butteri' (cowboys), and the equine breeding that has always characterized this stretch of the Lazio Maremma.

Conferences, food and wine, and entertainment

The fair is also an important moment for technical and institutional discussion: the conference pavilion hosts annual meetings on agrivoltaics, the Common Agricultural Policy, subsidized agricultural fuels, and sustainability, with the participation of the University of Tuscia and major agricultural organizations like Coldiretti, CIA, and Confagricoltura. There is no shortage of tastings of wines and typical products from the Viterbo Tuscia area, street food stands, and an event area with music, dance, and evening shows that turn the fair into a great open-air party.

Organized by the Municipality of Tarquinia in collaboration with the Pro Tarquinia Association, and under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Lazio Region, and ARSIAL, the fair is much more than a trade show: it is an identity-defining event for the entire province of Viterbo, capable of attracting tens of thousands of visitors and bridging the rural world of Tuscia with the seaside tourism of the coast.
