A celebration of Salento's flavors in the historic alleys of Aradeo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In Aradeo, a small town in the province of Lecce in the heart of Salento, the Taraddota Festival is one of the most deeply rooted and beloved gastronomic events of the summer. Every year, during the evenings of mid-August, the town's historic center transforms into a grand culinary trail: stalls, long tables, and outdoor kitchens bring the streets and squares to life, while residents and visitors stroll from one tasting to the next. The name refers to the taradda (or taraddota), the traditional Salento tarallo, a symbol of a humble and genuine cuisine celebrated here in all its forms.
The true star of the festival is the food of memory, prepared according to ancient local recipes. Strolling through the alleys, you can taste specialties that tell the story of Salento's culinary heritage:
Everything is accompanied by local wines and the simple, generous hospitality typical of Salento towns that open their historic centers to visitors in the summer.
Beyond fine dining, the Taraddota Festival thrives on music and folk tradition. The evenings are enlivened by pizzica performances and Salento dances, with folk bands drawing the audience into the typical rhythms of the tambourine. It is a chance to immerse yourself in the cultural identity of Salento, where food, music, and street sociality blend into a single collective celebration.
Organized with the involvement of the Municipality of Aradeo and local associations, the festival offers free admission and takes place entirely outdoors, among the streets and squares of the center. It is an event designed for families and those looking to discover the most authentic side of Salento, far from crowded beaches and close to its traditions. For those visiting Puglia in August, the Taraddota Festival in Aradeo is an ideal stop for a deep dive into the flavors and sounds of the Salento land.
The Taraddota Festival in Aradeo, in the province of Lecce, is a staple of the Salento summer that renews itself every year in mid-August in the town's historic center. For the 2026 edition, the official dates and the detailed program have not yet been communicated by the organizers.
Based on previous editions, one can expect the usual formula: three evenings of tastings in the alleys, featuring traditional Salento rural dishes (potato pitta, pittule, panzerotti, homemade pasta, roasted meats, and fried fish) accompanied by pizzica performances and folk dances. We recommend checking the dates and program on the channels of the Municipality of Aradeo and local associations once they are published.
The festival takes place among the alleys and squares of the historic center of Aradeo (LE), in central Salento, a few kilometers from Galatina and Nardรฒ.

Free admission. Food stalls open in the evening, generally from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Comfortable summer clothing is recommended for walking through the town center.
