The theatre review for children and families at the multi-purpose hall of Lavezzola
Syrup of Theatre is one of the most original cultural initiatives in Emilia-Romagna: a cultural welfare project conceived by ATER Fondazione in collaboration with the regional departments for Culture, Health, and Welfare. The idea is as simple as it is effective: paediatricians and family centres "prescribe" theatre just like they prescribe syrup, giving families vouchers that entitle them to attend shows at a symbolic price. Theatre thus becomes a tool for well-being, creativity, and social inclusion from early childhood.
In the Municipality of Conselice, in the province of Ravenna, the review takes place in Lavezzola, at the multi-purpose hall of the municipal delegation in via Bastia 265. Here, for three Sunday afternoons at the beginning of the year, the hall transforms into a small theatre tailored for children: all shows start at 4:00 PM and are designed for the little ones, from 3 years old upwards, and their families.
The programme ranges from the great classics of children's theatre to modern reinterpretations of well-known fairy tales, up to new productions that combine music, dance, storytelling, and puppet theatre. Historic companies of Italian children's theatre take turns on the Lavezzola stage with clowning shows, animated tales, and songs, capable of capturing children's attention and making adults smile too.
Launched in 2022, the review is part of a regional programme that stages dozens of events each season in over thirty theatres across Emilia-Romagna, with the support of hundreds of paediatricians and numerous family centres. In Lavezzola, Syrup of Theatre has become an eagerly awaited event for families in the Bassa Romagna area, who find in these Sunday afternoons an opportunity for recreation, growth, and sharing.
The 2026 edition of Syrup of Theatre in Lavezzola confirmed the formula loved by families in the Bassa Romagna area: three Sunday shows at the multi-purpose hall in via Bastia 265, at 4:00 PM. The fifth season was part of the broader regional cultural welfare project by ATER Fondazione, which involved over thirty theatres in Emilia-Romagna, more than 260 paediatricians, and dozens of family centres. The novelty of the year was the Family&Friends Pass, which allowed access to a show for up to six people at a price of 3 euros each.
All shows took place at the multi-purpose hall of the municipal delegation of Lavezzola, in via Bastia 265.
The concluding show Gloria's Tales by Claudio Milani, featuring the magical wooden box "Gloria" from which objects, music, and soap bubbles emerge, and the opening by the clowning of Gli Eccentrici Dadarò with Closciart.
