The Sunday of Chamber Music

In Lodi, there's an event that marks the winter and spring Sundays: Sunday Concerts, the chamber music series by the F. Gaffurio Academy. Ten concerts, one every Sunday afternoon at 5 PM, in the Academy Hall on Via Solferino 20, with an almost symbolic entrance fee: one euro. A formula that has made great chamber music popular with the Lodi public.

Trios, Duos, and Soloists

The program features various ensembles - trios, duos, solo recitals - and spans a vast repertoire. It ranges from the baroque of Bach to romantic transcriptions (Wagner-Liszt), from Viennese classics to Schubert and Schumann, up to the 20th century with Scriabin, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff. A quality program that brings acclaimed performers and young musicians to Lodi.

A Lodi Institution

The series is organized by the Friends of Music A. Schmid together with the F. Gaffurio Academy, two historic organizations in the city's musical life. The Gaffurio Academy, named after the great Renaissance music theorist Franchino Gaffurio (who adopted Lodi as his home), has been the benchmark for musical education and dissemination in the city for decades.

Music Accessible to All

The symbolic ticket price is not a minor detail: it is the very philosophy of the series, designed to bring as many people as possible closer to chamber music. In a medium-sized city like Lodi, the capital of the Lombard province of the same name, Domeniche in Concerto represents a precious cultural outpost, capable of keeping the passion for classical music alive throughout the season.
