Theatre, music, and storytelling in the Winter Gardens of Bordighera
Summer in Winter is the summer review of theatre, music, and storytelling that animates the Winter Gardens of Bordighera, a city in western Liguria in the province of Imperia. The gardens, a symbolic place of the city linked to the figure of architect Charles Garnier and Bordighera's Belle Époque, provide an ideal backdrop for evenings dedicated to live performance.
Curated by Enrico Cenderelli and supported by the Friends of Winter Association and the City of Bordighera, the review offers an artistic journey that blends original theatrical productions, prose shows, concerts, and musical performances. The programme alternates established artists and new realities of Italian culture, offering the public a varied and high-quality proposal.
Now in its seventh edition, Summer in Winter has established itself as one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Bordighera summer. The open-air evenings in the gardens combine the spectacle with the rediscovery of a historic city site, enhancing Bordighera's architectural and landscape heritage.
A holiday destination for artists and intellectuals between the 19th and 20th centuries, Bordighera retains the charm of the Belle Époque in its villas and gardens. Summer in Winter renews this cultural vocation, bringing theatre and music to one of the most representative places on the Riviera dei Fiori.
For 2026, Summer in Winter reaches its seventh edition, confirming the formula of a distributed programme that blends theatre, music, and storytelling in the Winter Gardens. The opening is entrusted, on Saturday, June 6 at 9 PM, to the show "Opera Pop Live" with Luigi Orfeo, an actor and director who presents opera in a fun and informal way. The complete schedule of evenings, with original theatrical productions, prose, concerts, and performances, will be published by the organizers during the season.
The review continues throughout the summer with original theatrical productions, prose shows, concerts, and musical performances. The complete programme is announced by the organizers closer to the events.
Bordighera is served by the train station on the Genoa–Ventimiglia line. By car, it can be reached from the Bordighera motorway exit (A10). The shows are held in the Winter Gardens.
Evening shows, generally at 9 PM. For access methods and tickets, please refer to the official programme of the review.
