About Summer Festival

The Festa d'Estate is the village festival that enlivens the hamlet of Serravalle, in the Municipality of Riva del Po, in the province of Ferrara. Organized by Pro Loco Serravalle Insieme APS, it takes place over two weekends straddling the end of August and the beginning of September, in the public park of Piazza Donatori del Sangue. Traditional cuisine of the lower Ferrara region, live music, shows, charity fishing, market stalls, and a children's corner: an authentic community festival, recognized as a Quality Festival by UNPLI.

A village festival on the banks of the Po

The Summer Festival is the most anticipated event of the summer in Serravalle, the easternmost hamlet of the Municipality of Riva del Po, in the province of Ferrara. Overlooking the Great River, in the heart of the lower Ferrara region, this village festival attracts residents and visitors from all over the Emilia-Romagna plain every year for two weekends of celebration focused on conviviality.

The event is held in the public park of Piazza Donatori del Sangue, along Via S. Mongini, with evening openings starting from 7:00 PM. It is organized with passion by Pro Loco Serravalle Insieme APS, a volunteer association described by its promoters as "vibrant and growing", with the patronage of the Municipality of Riva del Po.

Traditional cuisine of the lower Ferrara region

The heart of the Summer Festival is the gastronomic stand, a real strong point that has earned the event the prestigious recognition of Quality Festival from UNPLI, the National Union of Pro Loco of Italy. On the table are the local specialties:

  • the famous Serravalle pinzini, prepared according to a local recipe with a "secret" grandmother's ingredient;
  • pear ravioli, with butter and sage, a tribute to the Pera dell'Emilia-Romagna IGP;
  • Mulino del Po piadine, arrosticini, sausage, and fried items;
  • traditional main courses such as roast meat and stewed wild boar, with side dishes of baked potatoes, vegetables, and polenta;
  • and finally, desserts: the Ferrara tenerina cake, tiramisu, profiteroles, and grandmother's cake.

Music, shows, and fun for everyone

In addition to good food, the Summer Festival offers a rich entertainment program: evenings of live music with groups and bands, DJ sets, fashion shows, and variety shows. Traditional village festival moments are not lacking, such as the charity fishing, the lottery, and the market of hobbyists and local products.

Families find space in the children's corner, with inflatables and activities designed for the little ones, while collaboration with local associations brings initiatives such as vintage tractor exhibitions and motor-themed events to Serravalle.

A community celebration

More than just a festival, the Summer Festival is an occasion for the entire community of Serravalle and neighboring towns to come together. The event takes place thanks to the tireless work of the Pro Loco volunteers, who involve new members every year and collaborate with the Pro Loco of neighboring hamlets. Visiting the Summer Festival means discovering the most authentic soul of the Ferrara Po Delta, made of tradition, hospitality, and genuine flavors.
