The Runzi Fair of the Holy Name of Mary, combined with the Somarino Festival, is the September event in the hamlet of Runzi, in the municipality of Bagnolo di Po, province of Rovigo. The festival unites devotion to the Most Holy Name of Mary with one of the most characteristic specialties of Rovigo cuisine: somarino with polenta.
A Table with Somarino, Pinzin, and Cod
The covered stand at the parish grounds, in Piazza Runzi 82, opens every evening with a rich menu: somarino with polenta, pinzin with typical cured meats, Vicenza-style cod, homemade first courses, and desserts. The kitchen is managed by the volunteers of the Runzi Festival, who have been running the event with passion for years.
Faith, Dancing, and Charity
The religious part, dedicated to the Most Holy Name of Mary, accompanies the festive evenings with moments of devotion and the solemn service. Every evening the dance floor comes alive with orchestras and live music, while there is no shortage of crafts, fair stands, and a charity tombola. An event that makes Runzi, for two weekends in September, a meeting point for the entire Polesine countryside, in the Municipality of Bagnolo di Po.

The Runzi Somarino Festival returns in 2026 over two weekends, September 4-5-6 and September 11-12-13-14, at the parish grounds of the hamlet of Runzi, in Bagnolo di Po. The covered stand opens every evening from 7:30 PM (7:00 PM on holidays) with somarino with polenta, pinzin, Vicenza-style cod, and traditional first courses. Each evening is accompanied by orchestras and live music, while the religious part is dedicated to the Most Holy Name of Mary.
