The summer village festival in Zumaglia, in the heart of the Biella area
The Summer Festival is the summer celebration of Zumaglia, a small municipality in the Province of Biella, Piedmont, nestled on the first hills rising toward the Biellese Prealps. It is a traditional community event that, at the start of summer, transforms the town center into a meeting place filled with long tables, music, and local delicacies. It is one of those village festivals that define the Biella summer, where village life moves outdoors and families reconnect after the winter.
Zumaglia has just over a thousand inhabitants and is famous above all for its Castle, which stands on the summit of the Brich di Zumaglia (669 meters), on the border with Ronco Biellese, surrounded by a large park. The historical origins of the village date back to the 10th century, when the castle was among the imperial donations to the Bishop of Vercelli. It is in this context of tradition and hilly landscape that the Summer Festival takes place, a moment of strong identity for the Zumaglia community.
Like many summer festivals in the Biella area, the event typically offers a convivial evening outdoors, with local cuisine, food stalls, and entertainment with live music. The festival takes place in the late afternoon and continues late into the evening: for the 2026 edition, for instance, the temporary closure of a stretch of the provincial road 204 Zumaglia-Ronco Biellese was arranged from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM to allow the event to take place.
The Summer Festival is the ideal opportunity to discover the authentic atmosphere of a village in the Biella area and to combine the festive evening with a visit to the Castle and the park of the Brich di Zumaglia, one of the most evocative destinations in the area.
