Nestled in the woods of the upper Molise region, in the province of Isernia, San Pietro Avellana is one of Italy's most important truffle-producing centers. Recognized as a Truffle Town within the national association of the same name, the village dedicates two events a year to this prized fungus: the White Truffle Market Exhibition in autumn and, in mid-summer, the Summer Black Truffle Fair.

The event, now in its thirty-fifth edition, enlivens the village center with stands of black truffle exhibitors, truffle-based menus, tastings, guided tours, and musical performances. It's an opportunity to learn about the work of local truffle hunters and to savor traditional local dishes enhanced by the aroma of the summer black truffle.
