The Soprana Food and Wine Walk

"Su e giù per le rive" is one of the most beloved spring events in the Biella region. It takes place in Soprana, a village in the municipality of Valdilana, in the Province of Biella, Piedmont. The event combines two passions deeply rooted in the area: hiking through woods and ancient trails, and discovering local culinary traditions.

An 8-kilometre route between nature and flavor

The trail spans approximately 8 kilometres and is designed to be accessible to everyone, including families. Along the way, participants encounter seven food and wine stops, distributed among trails, riverbanks, and panoramic viewpoints, where they can sample local products, regional dishes, and quality tastings. This is not a race: the pace is that of a leisurely stroll, alternating the pleasure of outdoor activity with moments of rest and socialising.

Departure from the Cerruti hamlet

The meeting point and departure are in the morning, around 9:30 AM, from the area adjacent to the primary school in the Cerruti hamlet, in Soprana. From here, walkers head out along the paths that cross the woods and the banks of the area, in a series of climbs and descents that give the event its name, "Su e giù per le rive" (Up and Down the Banks).

A community event in Soprana

The walk is organised entirely by the Pro Loco of Soprana, thanks to the hard work of volunteers who set up the stops and welcome participants every year. Now in its sixth edition, the event has established itself as a true local tradition in the Biella area, attracting hiking enthusiasts, groups of friends, and families. It is an opportunity to rediscover the charming corners of the Biella hills and enjoy a day of smiles, sharing, and taste, all while celebrating the landscape and products of Piedmont.
