Summer cultural festival in the village of Strombiano, Val di Peio
Strombiano d'Autore is a summer cultural festival held in Strombiano, a charming little hamlet in the municipality of Peio, in Val di Peio, within the autonomous province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every year, the festival enlivens the July evenings with a series of free, public events designed to bring vibrant culture to a mountain village nestled among the forests and peaks of the Stelvio National Park.
The event is intentionally multidisciplinary: the evenings alternate between live concerts, book presentations, and meetings with authors, journalists, and direct witnesses of current events. Folk and singer-songwriter music from local Trentino bands intertwines with moments of reflection dedicated to the great issues of our time, giving voice to experiences and stories rooted in both local and global contexts.
Strombiano d'Autore stands out for its focus on social and civil topics. Recent editions have addressed themes of hospitality and migration, featuring direct accounts from the Mediterranean, while the 2026 edition is dedicated to the theme "Together out of violence". Through books, dialogues, and meetings, the festival transforms the small village square into an open and participatory space for discussion, engaging both residents and visitors.
The festival is part of the rich summer calendar of events in Val di Peio and Val di Sole, one of the most authentic valleys in western Trentino. With its stone and wood houses and mountain views, Strombiano provides the ideal setting for open-air evenings where culture meets community. For those spending their summer holidays between the thermal baths of Peio, the trails of the Stelvio National Park, and the valley's villages, Strombiano d'Autore is a precious opportunity to combine nature, music, and thought.
The Strombiano d'Autore 2026 festival will take place from July 18th to 25th, 2026, in Strombiano, a hamlet of the municipality of Peio, in Val di Peio (Trentino). This edition revolves around the theme "Together out of violence", the guiding thread for this year's evenings.
As per tradition, the program alternates between live concerts, book presentations, and meetings with authors on current social issues, all with free admission and held outdoors in the mountain village. The detailed calendar of events, including guest names and times, will be announced by the organizers closer to the event date.
Strombiano is a hamlet in the municipality of Peio, in Val di Peio (Val di Sole), western Trentino. By car, take the SS42 del Tonale road to Dimaro, then follow the road into Val di Peio. The nearest train station is Malé, served by the Trento-Malé-Mezzana railway; from there, local valley buses are available. The nearest airports are Verona and Bergamo-Orio al Serio.
All festival events are free of charge and open to the public.
The evenings are held outdoors: we recommend bringing a warm layer, as mountain evenings can be cool. There is no shortage of accommodation in the area between Peio Paese, Peio Fonti, and Cogolo.
