Strawberry Festival

A festival dedicated to the season's favorite red fruit

The Strawberry Festival is the flagship event of Castelletto d'Erro, a tiny municipality in the province of Alessandria perched on the hills of the Alta Langa, in Piedmont. Every year, towards the end of May, the village comes alive to celebrate the strawberry, a symbol of spring that thrives in the clay-rich, sun-drenched soils of this secluded corner of lower Piedmont.

Organized by the Pro Loco of Castelletto d'Erro in collaboration with the local council, the festival reached its 26th edition in 2026, a testament to a well-established tradition that dates back to the turn of the millennium.

The day's program

The festival takes place over a single Sunday, focusing on village conviviality. The typical program includes:

• in the morning, the opening of the stalls featuring local products and freshly picked strawberries;
• a visit to the medieval tower, the village's landmark and a panoramic viewpoint over the surrounding hills;
• at noon, the serving of traditional Castelletto dishes, with specialties ranging from strawberry risotto to meat-sauce ravioli, as well as desserts and strawberries served with gelato, lemon, or paired with Brachetto wine;
• in the afternoon, children's games and a strawberry-themed snack.

Flavors of the Alta Langa

Beyond strawberries, the festival is an opportunity to discover the region's gastronomic excellence, starting with Robiola di Roccaverano PDO, the goat cheese that symbolizes these hills. The stalls offer typical products from small local producers, creating a culinary journey that tells the story of the rural identity of the Alta Langa.

The village and its tower

Castelletto d'Erro is a village of just a few hundred inhabitants, dominated by its medieval tower, the remains of the village's ancient defensive system. During the festival, the tower is open to visitors, offering a glimpse of the Langhe and Monferrato landscape. The day thus becomes an invitation to discover an authentic territory, far from mass tourism circuits.

A community gathering

More than just a food fair, the Strawberry Festival is a celebration for the community of Castelletto d'Erro: a moment when the village gathers to welcome visitors with the warmth typical of Piedmontese towns. Admission is free, and the family-friendly atmosphere makes it ideal for a spring day trip.
