Straw Huts — Festival of Huts and Waters is a widespread event that brings theatre and music to the most evocative locations in the territory between Padua and Venice. The straw huts, historic villas, Benedictine courtyards, and reclamation pumping stations become natural stages, in a constant dialogue between landscape, water, and live arts.
The theme 'Water Mirrors'
The 17th edition revolves around the theme Water Mirrors: water as an identity element of the Saccisica and the lagoon becomes the common thread for theatrical performances, contemporary dance, circus, encounters, and book presentations. The festival begins in Piove di Sacco, in the province of Padua, and extends to numerous municipalities in the area.
A territory on stage
Among the municipalities involved are Piove di Sacco, Arzergrande, Brugine, Codevigo, Correzzola, Legnaro, Mirano, and Sant'Angelo di Piove di Sacco. Alongside the performances, the festival offers the podcast 'Voci dalla Scena' (Voices from the Stage), staged readings, and in-depth discussions, creating a path that enhances the Veneto rural and lagoon heritage through the arts.
Straw Huts — edition 2026
The 17th edition of Straw Huts takes place from June 20 to July 5, 2026 on the theme Water Mirrors. The festival opens on June 20 at Casone Ramei in Piove di Sacco and continues with over twenty performances including theatre, contemporary dance, storytelling, and circus in the rural and lagoon spaces of the region.
