The music festival of I Solisti Veneti among villas, theatres, and basilicas
The Veneto Festival is the musical review of I Solisti Veneti, one of the most famous Italian chamber orchestras, founded in Padua in 1959. Under the direction of Giuliano Carella, the festival builds an itinerary each year that combines music, architecture, and landscape, bringing concerts to Palladian villas, historic theatres, basilicas, and monumental squares.
The programme includes about twenty concerts spread between spring and summer, not only in Veneto but also in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, and abroad. The repertoire blends Venetian baroque — with Vivaldi and the great masters of the Serenissima — and Viennese classicism, in a dialogue between the region's musical roots and the great European repertoire.
More than just a concert season, the Veneto Festival is a journey that crosses the region and opens up to the world, intertwining music, spirituality, and memory in places of extraordinary historical and artistic value in the Veneto. The opening concert is traditionally held at the Auditorium Pollini in Padua.
The 56th edition of the Veneto Festival of I Solisti Veneti, directed by Giuliano Carella, offers twenty concerts spread from May to September 2026 in eighteen different locations, many of extraordinary historical and architectural value, across Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, Slovenia, and Romania.
The opening concert takes place on Monday, May 25th at 9 PM at the Auditorium Pollini in Padua, entrusted to I Solisti Veneti conducted by Giuliano Carella with the participation of mezzo-soprano Lilly Jørstad. The program builds an itinerary between Viennese classicism and Italian baroque theatre: from Haydn's Symphony No. 21 to famous Vivaldian arias from "Griselda", "Giustino", and "Juditha Triumphans", through Porpora and Vivaldi's rare Concerto RV 562, up to Mozart's "Concertone" KV 190.
