Padua's summer of music, theatre, cabaret and dance, from Piazza Eremitani to Palazzo Zuckermann
Castello Festival is the event that accompanies Padua's summer with dozens of open-air performances in the heart of the historic centre. The festival is divided between two evocative venues: Piazza Eremitani, with a large stage and seating for 720, and the more intimate Teatro Giardino of Palazzo Zuckermann, with seating for 200.
Music, theatre, cabaret, dance and talks alternate in a programme that brings together nationally and internationally renowned names: from American singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega to the jazz of Paolo Fresu, from the talent of Frida Bollani Magoni to the civil theatre of Andrea Pennacchi, and the comedy of Alessandro Bergonzoni, Luca Bizzarri and Paolo Rossi with I Solisti Veneti.
With its blend of genres โ concerts, drama, dance, cabaret, world music โ Castello Festival has become one of the most recognisable summer events in Padua and the Veneto region, capable of bringing an international programme to the city.
The 2026 edition (XII) of Castello Festival brings 21 shows to Padua from July 4th to September 13th, divided between Piazza Eremitani (July) and the Teatro Giardino of Palazzo Zuckermann (late August-September). It opens on July 4th with "Mediterraneo", a premiere by the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto with Elena Ledda, Maurizio Camardi and Mauro Palmas.
Piazza Eremitani and Palazzo Zuckermann are in the centre of Padua, near the Scrovegni Chapel; they can be reached on foot from the station.
From early July to mid-September: Piazza Eremitani in July, Palazzo Zuckermann between late August and September.
