The road race through the hills of Andezeno
StrAndezeno is the signature road race of Andezeno, a town of just over two thousand residents nestled in the hills east of Turin, in the Chierese area. Reaching its 48th edition in 2026, the event is one of the longest-running and most cherished sporting fixtures in the region: one of those village races that has spanned decades, drawing runners from across the Province of Turin and Piedmont year after year.
The heart of StrAndezeno is an 8 km competitive race, included in the FIDAL Piedmont regional calendar and organized by the Atletica Chierese & Leo club. The route winds "through the village streets and the green hills of Andezeno," with undulations that test the legs while offering sweeping views of the vineyards and the Chierese landscape. The start and finish lines are located in Piazza Italia, the town's historic square, which transforms into the race's headquarters for the occasion.
Alongside the competitive race, StrAndezeno has always featured a non-competitive fun run of about 4 km, designed for those who want to enjoy the festivities without the pressure of a stopwatch: families, children, walkers, and enthusiasts who choose to stroll through the town at their own pace. It is this dual format—serious sport and popular participation—that makes the event a true community celebration rather than just a race.
Traditionally, StrAndezeno is held in the evening, on one of the first warm Fridays in June, when the long sunset light accompanies runners along the course. Afterwards, Piazza Italia becomes the meeting point for the awards ceremony and social gatherings hosted by local associations and the Pro Loco, in collaboration with the Municipality of Andezeno. It is a simple, authentic way to experience the town and its hills in true Piedmontese spirit.
The 48th edition of StrAndezeno was held on Friday, June 12, 2026, in Andezeno, in the Province of Turin. The date was confirmed by the 2026 FIDAL Piedmont regional calendar, which includes the 8 km road race organized by the Atletica Chierese & Leo club.
As per tradition, the event combined the 8 km competitive race along the village streets and the hills of Andezeno with a non-competitive fun run open to everyone, with meeting, start, and finish in Piazza Italia.
The detailed race regulations (meeting and start times, registration fees, refreshment points, and awards) for the 48th edition are published on the FIDAL Piedmont and Municipality of Andezeno channels. The confirmed structure of the event includes:
