Stefano Cavaliere National Prize

A prize dedicated to the memory of Stefano Cavaliere

The Stefano Cavaliere National Prize is a cultural and educational competition held in Sant'Agata di Puglia, a stunning village in the Daunian Mountains in the Province of Foggia, at the western edge of Puglia. The event is dedicated to the memory of Stefano Cavaliere, a criminal lawyer and parliamentarian from Sant'Agata, who served multiple terms in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic, and is remembered for his dedication to active citizenship, democracy, and civil rights.

A competition for students

The prize involves secondary school students, who are challenged each year to engage with a different civic and social theme through written essays and graphic projects. Following in-class study sessions, students participate in a test, and the best works are selected and awarded during the final ceremony. Over the years, the competition has addressed topics such as legality, environmental protection, and, in the most recent edition, sustainable tourism.

The awards ceremony

The highlight is the awards ceremony held at the Municipal Theatre of Sant'Agata di Puglia. The day brings together students, teachers, school principals, civil authorities, and institutional representatives, with speeches dedicated to the figure of Stefano Cavaliere and the values the prize promotes. The presentation of awards to the deserving students concludes a morning of celebration and shared reflection.

The organizers

The Prize is promoted by the Municipality of Sant'Agata di Puglia together with the Pro Loco "Pierino Donofrio" and the Cavaliere family, with the support of local educational institutions and the patronage of the Senate of the Republic. It is a collective project that unites schools, local government, and community associations in a unique educational initiative of national scope.
