The premier showcase for auteur cinema in the Capitanata region
The Foggia Film Festival is the most anticipated event for cinema enthusiasts in the Daunian capital and throughout the Capitanata region. Established in 2011, it transforms Foggia, in Puglia, into a small capital of the silver screen every autumn: a week of screenings, meetings, awards, and tributes that brings authors, directors, and works from all over Italy and abroad to the city.
The event promotes the audiovisual language of Italian and international cinema, with a keen eye for debut and sophomore works and new authors. The festival is promoted and organized by the Theatre and Cinema Research Center "La Bottega dell'Attore โ Teatro Studio Dauno APS", directed by Pino Bruno, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Foggia, the Foggia Library-Museum Hub, and with the support of the Fondazione dei Monti Uniti di Foggia.
The festival structure includes three main competitions alongside numerous collateral sections:
The heart of the event is the Santa Chiara Auditorium, located in the historic center of Foggia, supplemented over the years by other city venues such as the Cineteatro Sala Farina. In addition to screenings, the festival offers film lessons, masterclasses, and activities for schools, confirming its role as an important cultural hub for the Province of Foggia and the entire Puglia region. Juries are often led by prominent names in Italian cinema, and each edition pays tribute to a great screen icon.
In 2026, the Foggia Film Festival reaches its sixteenth edition, scheduled from November 15 to 21 at the Santa Chiara Auditorium in Foggia. As per tradition, the festival showcases Italian and international auteur cinema, prioritizing debut and sophomore works of all nationalities.
Official competitions are confirmed in the feature film, documentary, and short film categories, alongside the Student Film Fest reserved for authors under 30 from academies, universities, and high schools. Submissions for competing works remain open until 1:00 PM on July 18, 2026.
The organization is entrusted to the Theatre and Cinema Research Center "La Bottega dell'Attore โ Teatro Studio Dauno APS", with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Foggia, the Foggia Library-Museum Hub, and the support of the Fondazione dei Monti Uniti di Foggia.
The detailed program for the 16th edition โ including selected titles, guests, tributes, and the screening schedule โ will be announced by the organizers after the submission deadline (July 18, 2026), in the weeks leading up to the event. The confirmed structure includes competitions for feature films, documentaries, and short films, the Student Film Fest section for young authors, as well as previews, out-of-competition screenings, meetings with authors, and tributes. Updates are available on the official website foggiafilmfestival.com and the festival's social media channels.
Screenings take place primarily at the Santa Chiara Auditorium, in the historic center of Foggia, with additional city venues used for collateral events.
Foggia is a major railway hub: the station is well-connected to Bari, Naples, Rome, and Pescara. By car, it can be reached via the A14 motorway (Foggia exit) and the state roads of the Capitanata. The "Gino Lisa" airport in Foggia offers limited domestic connections.
The detailed program, screening times, and access procedures are published on the official website and the festival's social media channels in the weeks leading up to the event. For information: [email protected].
