About Spring Open Days at Castello di Robella

For two days, the Castello di Robella in the Asti Monferrato opens its doors to the public for the Spring Open Days and the 16th National ADSI Day. The 2026 program features a concert in the manor's halls on Saturday, followed by free access to the historic park and ancient cellars on Sunday, with guided tours led by the owners. A rare opportunity to explore a 13th-century residence, its tower with an iron observatory for stargazing, and the park designed by Filippo Castelli.

Spring Open Days at Castello di Robella

On Saturday, May 23rd, and Sunday, May 24th, 2026, the Castello di Robella opens its doors to the public for the Spring Open Days, an event culminating in participation in the 16th National ADSI Day (Italian Historic Houses Association). Located in the small town of Robella, in the province of Asti and the heart of the Monferrato region, this residence is the only castle in the Asti area selected among the thirty-six Piedmontese historic homes participating in the 2026 initiative.

A 13th-century castle

The Castello di Robella originated in the 13th century as a polygonal fortress linked to the imperial county of the Radicati di Cocconato family, later transformed into a noble residence. Among its most curious features is the tower with its iron observatory, designed by architect Carlo Bernardo Mosca for astronomical observationโ€”a rare example of 19th-century architecture dedicated to science. The park surrounding the manor reflects the original design by Filippo Castelli, featuring a double circuit of paths and centuries-old tree species.

The 2026 program

The weekend offers two complementary days:

  • Saturday, May 23rd โ€” A concert in the castle halls and guided tours of the interiors and the tower at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, featuring an in-depth look at the Castello di Robella within the imperial county of the Radicati di Cocconato. Suggested contribution: 10 euros.
  • Sunday, May 24th โ€” As part of the National ADSI Day, free access to the historic park and ancient cellars, with guided tours led by the owners at 11:00 AM, 2:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:00 PM.

The National ADSI Day

The National Day of the Italian Historic Houses Association, now in its sixteenth edition, opens hundreds of castles, villas, palaces, and historic gardens across Italy to the public. The theme for the 2026 edition is "Guardians of the Future. A living heritage for shared value," highlighting the role of the families who preserve and pass down these sites. In Piedmont, thirty-six homes are participating, spread across the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, Biella, Cuneo, Novara, and Turin.

Why visit

For those who love historic heritage and the landscapes of the Monferrato, the Spring Open Days at the Castello di Robella are a chance to enter a private residence usually closed to the public, enjoy fine music within its walls, and stroll through a park designed according to 19th-century Romantic tastes, just a few kilometers from the UNESCO-listed hills of the Asti region.
