About Spring Festival

The Spring Festival transforms Corso Matteotti, in the heart of Sparanise, into a long open-air garden. Featuring floral displays by local florists, artisan stalls, local associations, street food, music, dance, and children's entertainment, the event was launched in 2024 by the association 'Sparanise in Festa - Un sorriso per tutti' with municipal support. It celebrates the awakening of nature with a free, family-friendly day of festivities.

A day of flowers and community in the heart of Sparanise

When spring arrives, the center of Sparanise, in the province of Caserta, takes on a new look for an entire day. Corso Matteotti, the town's main artery, is decorated by local florists with floral-themed arrangements and fills with stalls, colors, and music from morning until evening. This is the Spring Festival, a popular event designed to "celebrate the awakening of nature after the winter slumber" and to offer the community a day of gathering in the open air.

The origins: a young but already iconic event

The first edition took place on Sunday, April 21, 2024, promoted by the association Sparanise in Festa - Un sorriso per tutti, the same local volunteer group that has enlivened other town events over the years. The second edition was held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, again along Corso Matteotti and with the patronage of the Municipality of Sparanise. In a very short time, the festival has become one of the most anticipated events in the town's spring calendar, alongside the famous Carnevale Caleno, which attracts thousands of visitors to the Terra di Lavoro region every February.

Flowers, crafts, and local products

The heart of the event is the long stroll among the stands set up along the course. Previous editions have hosted:

  • florist stands with decorations, arrangements, and ornamental plants;
  • artisan stalls and handmade creations;
  • booths for local associations and charities, in line with the organization's commitment to solidarity;
  • showcases and stalls from Sparanise merchants;
  • photo booths and scenic corners for souvenirs;
  • essential street food stations for lunch and dinner outdoors.

Street art, music, and dance

Alongside the stalls, the festival offers a program of performances scattered along the course. In the first edition, the Madonnari (street painters) from the Neapolitan school created 3D street paintings, turning the asphalt into an open-air museum, while majorettes and a traveling street band accompanied the public from stand to stand; in the evening, there was also a concert by well-known artists. The 2025 edition featured karaoke, Neapolitan posteggia (traditional street music), a live band, dance performances by local schools, and circus acts.

An event designed for families

The Spring Festival is explicitly aimed "at all age groups." For children, there are games, workshops, and entertainment, also organized by local parish groups, so that the day can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace by parents and grandparents. Admission is free: you only pay for what you consume or purchase at the stands.

Sparanise, the inland Campania and the Terra di Lavoro

Sparanise is a municipality in the province of Caserta, in Campania, nestled in the plain between the Volturno River and the slopes of Monte Massico, in that Terra di Lavoro region that has combined agricultural tradition with town square festivities for centuries. Here, spring coincides with the resumption of work in the fields and the season of festivals: an event dedicated to flowers and artisan crafts perfectly captures this bond with the cycle of the seasons. For those visiting the area, the event is also an opportunity to discover a town often off the beaten tourist path, just a few kilometers from ancient Capua and the Royal Palace of Caserta.

An event to follow year after year

The dates of the Spring Festival are announced by the organizing association and the Municipality a few weeks in advance, usually between late April and early May, almost always on a Sunday. Those wishing to attend should check the official announcements on the social media channels of the Sparanise in Festa - Un sorriso per tutti association and in the local press of the province of Caserta.
