Every year at the end of May, the Selva del Lamone Regional Nature Reserve becomes the stage for the Spring Festival, one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Farnese, a village in the Viterbo Tuscia area of Lazio. The event takes place in the picturesque Roppozzo area, nestled within the lava-formed woods and lush vegetation that define this territory bordering Tuscany.

Nature, Inclusivity, and Community

The festival stems from the deep connection between the Farnese community and the Selva del Lamone, offering three days of activities designed for families, outdoor enthusiasts, experts, and food lovers. The program alternates between nature hikes, horseback riding, mountain biking, traditional folk games, and educational sessions on environmental awareness. Great emphasis is placed on inclusivity: highlights include excursions using the Joëlette, an all-terrain wheelchair that allows people with limited mobility to reach the reserve's trails.

The heart of the festival is also culinary. The stalls set up in Roppozzo offer local specialties, from traditional products to regional wines, with tastings available throughout the weekend. These convivial moments celebrate the farming and pastoral culture of this corner of Upper Tuscia.

The Spring Festival is part of the European Week of Parks, under the motto "United by Nature," and is promoted by the Municipality of Farnese together with the management of the Selva del Lamone Regional Nature Reserve and the Pro Loco Farnese, with the support of the Lazio Region and the collaboration of local associations and volunteers.
