A village festival in the heart of the Bassa Novarese

The Spring Festival is one of the most cherished events in the municipality of Casalino, a small town in the Province of Novara, Piedmont, nestled in the rice-growing plains of the Bassa Novarese. Organized by the Casalino Eventi Association, the event celebrates the arrival of the warmer season with a day entirely dedicated to conviviality, good food, and exploring the local countryside. The event takes place at the "6 Serie di Impronte" center on Via Curino, a green space that serves as a gathering point for families, friends, and nature enthusiasts.

A day between nature and four-legged friends

The festival kicks off in the morning with a countryside walk in Casalino, organized in collaboration with the Golden Retriever Novara and Province group. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the landscape of the Novara plains in the company of your four-legged friends, winding through irrigation ditches, rice paddies, and farmsteads that tell the agricultural history of this land. The walk, which is accessible and suitable for everyone, combines the pleasure of outdoor activity with the bond between people and their dogs in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

Lunch: panissa and traditional flavors

The culinary heart of the day is the convivial lunch, available for takeaway or table service. The absolute star of the menu is panissa, the iconic dish of Novara and Vercelli cuisine: a rich risotto prepared with rice, beans, lard, pork rinds, and salam d'la duja. It is accompanied by local specialties such as salamella (sausage), french fries, salame della duja, gorgonzola, and dessert. A simple and generous menu that captures the peasant identity and gastronomic heritage of Piedmont and the Novara region.

The afternoon: bar and briscola tournament

After lunch, the festivities continue throughout the day with a bar service and, in the afternoon, the traditional briscola tournament, one of the most anticipated and well-attended moments. The famous card game, deeply rooted in Piedmontese popular culture, brings tables to life with friendly challenges, laughter, and a sense of community, perfectly in tune with the convivial spirit of the event.
