Art, community, and nature in the hills of the Turin Monferrato
Every spring, the Municipality of Monteu da Po, in the province of Turin, welcomes residents and visitors with the Spring Festival, a day that weaves together art, social connection, and a love for the local area. The initiative takes place in the heart of the village, between Piazza Bava and the Parco Giochi (playground), and is born from the collaboration between the municipal administration and the local Pro Loco, presided over by Giovanni Facco. The goal is clear: to promote the territory, creativity, and participation in an inclusive format open to all ages.
The most distinctive moment is the "Primavera su Monteu" painting competition, a live painting contest held in collaboration with the "Collina Monferrato Torinese" Trade District. For one day, the village transforms into a large open-air studio: artists and enthusiasts gather in the streets and squares to portray the views, colors, and details of the village overlooking the Po river. The works are submitted in the afternoon and evaluated by a jury, with an awards ceremony closing the day.
The festival does not forget the little ones: in the afternoon, at the playground, creative workshops dedicated to children come to life, featuring flower-making, planting activities, and a shared snack. It is a way to introduce new generations to themes of nature, the environment, and landscape care, in full harmony with the spring spirit of the event.
Monteu da Po is a village nestled between the hills of the northern Monferrato and bordered by the Po river: in Piedmontese, "monté da Pò" literally means "climbing from the Po". The territory preserves the remains of the ancient Roman colony of Industria, with its forum, a temple dedicated to the goddess Isis, and the remains of workshops—an archaeological heritage that makes a visit to the village even more evocative. The Spring Festival thus becomes an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Piedmont, far from mass tourism circuits.
More than just an event, the Spring Festival represents a concrete example of how collaboration and shared commitment can enhance the territory and strengthen the sense of community. Amidst brushes, flowers, flavors, and smiles, Monteu da Po welcomes the new season with a day that unites generations and highlights the identity of a small but great village in the Turin Monferrato.
The 2026 edition of the Spring Festival in Monteu da Po took place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, and hosted the first edition of the "Primavera su Monteu" painting competition, in collaboration with the "Collina Monferrato Torinese" Trade District.
The painters' day was organized with registration from 9:00 to 12:00, a communal lunch at 12:30, the submission of works at 18:00, and the subsequent awards ceremony. From 15:00, at the playground, activities for children took place: a creative workshop to make flowers, planting of flowers and plants, and a shared snack.
The jury awarded the works of Boscolo Daniela, Camoletto Mario, Poma Gianni, and Trotta Simone. The event, organized by the Municipality and the Pro Loco presided over by Giovanni Facco, recorded great participation and success.
