About Sport in Centro

Sport in Centro is the weekend that the Municipality of Casalecchio di Reno dedicates to the promotion of physical activity and social interaction. In the multi-purpose area of Parco Rodari, the main sports clubs and local associations set up stands with free trials and demonstrations of many disciplines: climbing, orienteering, skating, badminton, dance, Nordic Walking, martial arts, mini basketball, and much more. An opportunity open to everyone to discover sports while having fun, with evening concerts by emerging bands to close the days.

Sport Comes to Casalecchio di Reno

Every year, Parco Rodari in Casalecchio di Reno, in the metropolitan city of Bologna, transforms into a large open-air gym to host Sport in Centro, the event that the Municipality dedicates to promoting physical activity and togetherness. In the park's multi-purpose area, for two full days, local sports clubs set up their stands and open their disciplines to anyone who wants to try them, for free and without booking.

Many Disciplines to Try

The beauty of Sport in Centro is its variety: from the grace of skating and dance to the millennia-old harmony of Tai Chi and Aikido, from the rhythm of Nordic Walking to the adrenaline of sport climbing on the equipped wall. And also orienteering, badminton, line and square dance, mini basketball, judo, martial arts, and football. Each stand offers trials and demonstrations guided by the associations' instructors, designed for all ages, from the youngest to adults.

Local Associations

The event is born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Casalecchio di Reno and local sports organizations, including Polisportiva Masi, Polisportiva CSI Casalecchio di Reno, Western Academy, Winning Club, and Casalecchio 1921. There is also the supportive presence of AVIS Casalecchio di Reno and a refreshment area to accompany the activities with a convivial moment.

Music and Socializing

The days don't end with sports: in the evening, the park comes alive with concerts by emerging bands from the area, a stage dedicated to young local musicians that transforms the event into a community celebration. Sport in Centro is part of A Mente Fresca, the summer event program promoted by the municipal administration to enjoy the city's public spaces.

An Event for the Whole Community

Free and accessible, Sport in Centro is much more than a sports showcase: it's an invitation to all citizens of Casalecchio di Reno and the surrounding Bologna area to rediscover movement, get to know the local sports clubs, and spend a weekend outdoors in one of the city's most beloved parks.

Sport in Centro โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Sport in Centro brings an important novelty: the event moves from its traditional September slot to May, to involve the community in a weekend entirely dedicated to physical activity under the spring sun. On Friday, May 29th, and Saturday, May 30th, Parco Rodari hosts stands, free trials, and demonstrations by Casalecchio di Reno's sports clubs, with evening concerts by emerging bands.
