About DiMondi

The DiMondi Festival is the great summer of world music in Bolognina, Bologna. Under the evocative Nervi Canopy in Piazza Lucio Dalla, from May to September, free concerts, cultural fusions, and international popular sounds take place: from Salento pizzica to Brazilian rhythms, from Balkan brass bands to North African raï. A widespread and participatory festival, free every day, which transforms one of Bologna's most multicultural neighborhoods into a crossroads of worlds, sounds, and communities.

A Crossroads of Worlds in Bolognina

The DiMondi Festival is one of the most original events of the cultural summer in Bologna, in the heart of the Bolognina district. Its home is the Nervi Canopy in Piazza Lucio Dalla, the imposing structure of almost 6,000 square meters recovered and returned to the city, now an ideal covered space for concerts, markets, workshops, and meeting points. The festival was born with a precise mission: to make world music and the cultures of the many peoples who live in Bolognina the common thread of a long summer program, free and open to all.

World Music Takes Center Stage

From May 23rd until September, the schedule alternates evenings dedicated to the great popular and contemporary traditions from every continent. It ranges from Salento pizzica and taranta to the hot rhythms of Brazil, from Balkan brass bands and fanfares to raï and North African sounds, up to reggae, cumbia, and ska. A program that intertwines Italian and international artists, in a continuous dialogue between different sounds that reflects the multicultural composition of the neighborhood.

Themed Weekends and Festivals within the Festival

DiMondi is structured around monographic weekends, true festivals within the festival:

  • Pizzica! (June 12-14) dedicated to the new Salento "world" scene;
  • Brazil in Bologna (June 26-28) with Brazilian voices and rhythms;
  • Bologna Balkan (July 17-19) with orchestras and brass bands from Eastern Europe;
  • Finger Food Festival and Bolognina Ska Fest in September.

Alongside the evening concerts, the square comes alive during the day with markets, the Flea Market, workshops, family activities, and convivial moments around the refreshment areas.

A Free and Participatory Festival

All DiMondi events are free admission, every day from 10:00 AM to midnight. The festival is promoted by Estragon Club together with a network of local associations, as part of Bologna's summer cultural programming. More than just a music review, DiMondi is a community project that makes Bolognina, in Emilia-Romagna, a meeting point between cultures, generations, and neighborhoods of the metropolitan city.
