In the heart of the Trentino winter, the Natività di Maria Parish Church in Spormaggiore hosts one of the most cherished events in the village calendar: the Christmas Concert. Organized by Pro Loco Spormaggiore APS in collaboration with the local Parish Choir, the event is a moment for the Paganella Plateau community to come together and celebrate the holiday season through music.

The Choirs of the Paganella Plateau

The star of the evening is the Spormaggiore Parish Choir, a group of about thirty singers who accompany the village's main liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Its roots run deep: as early as 1947, during the inauguration of the church organ, the Spormaggiore choir took first place in a competition among the parish choirs of the Plateau. For the Christmas concert, the local choir often opens its stage to other choral groups from the region, creating an evening that unites the voices of the Paganella in a harmonious embrace.

A Community Ritual

The Christmas Concert is more than just a musical event; it is a true collective ritual that marks the end of the year for Spormaggiore. The nave of the parish church, dominated by the altarpiece dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, the patron saint of the community, provides the ideal setting for listening to traditional Christmas carols. At the end of the performance, the celebration moves outdoors: the Pro Loco offers hot tea and mulled wine to all attendees, turning the square into a warm and welcoming meeting point despite the winter temperatures.

Behind the organization is the Pro Loco Spormaggiore, an association that enlivens the life of the municipality all year round with a busy calendar of cultural, recreational, and volunteer initiatives. The Christmas Concert is part of the village's winter holiday program, which also includes markets and events in the characteristic streets of the town. It is a precious opportunity to discover the hospitality of this corner of Trentino-Alto Adige, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites and near the well-known Wildlife Park.
