About Spello Film Festival
Cinema in the Village of Flowers
The Spello and Umbrian Villages Film Festival is the event that brings great cinema to Spello every spring, one of Italy's most beautiful villages, in the province of Perugia. For ten days, the Subasio Theater and spaces in the historic center host free screenings, previews, audience Q&As, and in-depth discussions dedicated to Italian and international cinema.
Guests, Awards, and Exhibitions
The festival, curated by the Aurora Association with artistic direction by editor Gianluca Scarpa, alternates screenings with meetings with directors, actors, and industry professionals, as well as a double awards ceremony and thematic exhibitions dedicated to the relationship between cinema, art, and fashion. The event is under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Umbria Region, and RAI Umbria, and collaborates with the Experimental Cinematography Center and the European Institute of Design.
A Festival Spread Across Villages
In addition to Spello, the event involves the surrounding Umbrian villages, with screenings and events also reaching Bevagna and Costacciaro. This distributed festival model enhances the territory and brings cinema closer to audiences in charming locations in the heart of Umbria.
Spello Film Festival — edition 2026
The 15th edition of the Spello and Umbrian Villages Film Festival took place from March 6 to 15, 2026, with free screenings at the Subasio Theater and events in the surrounding Umbrian villages. The inauguration was held on Friday, March 6 at 5 PM in the Sala dell'Editto of the Palazzo Comunale, in the presence of Mayor Moreno Landrini and Donatella Cocchini, president of the Aurora Association. The organizational direction was entrusted to Donatella Cocchini and Francesca Romana Lovelock, and the artistic direction to editor Gianluca Scarpa.

How to get there
By car: Spello is accessible from the SS75 Centrale Umbra, between Foligno and Assisi. By train: Spello station on the Foligno-Terontola line. Screenings at the Subasio Theater.
