The Specchia White Night

The Specchia White Night is one of the most anticipated summer events in Salento and the entire province of Lecce. Every year, on the night of August 12th, the historic center of Specchia—ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy—lights up and stays awake until dawn, turning into a vast, sprawling stage where music, visual arts, street theater, dance, and gastronomy intertwine throughout the village's alleys, squares, and courtyards.

A village that never sleeps

From sunset to the first light of morning, every corner of the town offers a different atmosphere. Piazza del Popolo hosts the main stage with concerts by national guests; Piazza Sant'Oronzo is dedicated to electro-soul and dance beats; the heart of the historic center offers intimate acoustic performances within the stone walls; the Villa Comunale comes alive with children's shows, jugglers, fire performances, magic, and circus acts; while the Art Street features live painting, murals, and light installations. At dawn, the festival concludes with sonic rituals that greet the new day from the picturesque viewpoint.

A regional event

Founded in the mid-2000s, the White Night has grown into a major attraction that the Puglia Region has included among its major regional events. The organization is managed by the Pro Loco of Specchia in collaboration with the Municipality of Specchia, with the support of the Province of Lecce and the Puglia Region. Over the years, the village has hosted prominent artists from the Italian scene, alternating between major concerts and more refined, experimental offerings.

Music, art, and flavors of Salento

The winning formula of the White Night is the fusion of entertainment and tradition: alongside the concerts, there are food and wine trails featuring typical Salento products, local craft stalls, and guided tours to discover the historical and artistic beauty of Specchia, from Castello Risolo to the churches and underground oil mills of the village. A full night to experience the historic center in a festive and engaging atmosphere, among a crowd of all ages, families, and young people from all over Salento.

Practical information

The event takes place in the Municipality of Specchia (LE), in Puglia, and admission is free. Thanks to its timing during the Ferragosto holiday, the White Night has become a staple of the Salento summer, perfect for discovering one of the most fascinating villages in the hinterland of the Capo di Leuca.
