About Muse Salentine

In Alessano, a charming village in the province of Lecce, the Muse Salentine Festival brings international classical music to sites of rare beauty: the courtyards of historic palaces, churches, and squares across the Salento peninsula. Founded by Belgian record producer Charles Adriaenssen, the festival features a blend of established soloists and rising stars in an intimate setting, with two sessions held annually between summer and September. A sophisticated event that unites classical music, stunning landscapes, and Apulian hospitality.

The Muse Salentine Festival

The Muse Salentine Festival is one of the most refined classical music events in Puglia. Established in 2011 and organized by the cultural association of the same name based in Alessano, in the heart of Lower Salento in the province of Lecce, the festival presents a series of classical concerts every year in highly evocative settings: the courtyards of ancient palaces, historic churches, and the squares of Alessano and neighboring villages on the Salento peninsula.

An international project born in Salento

The event was conceived by Belgian record producer Charles Adriaenssen, who continues to serve as artistic director, with the collaboration of Tzairรญ Santos Garcรญa as artistic coordinator. The association works closely with the record label Outhere Music, one of the world's leading independent classical music labels, and enjoys the support of the municipal administrations of Alessano and Tricase.

Established soloists and young talents

The festival's philosophy is to foster a strong, direct connection between artists and the audience by keeping events deliberately small and informal. The program features a mix of internationally renowned names and emerging talents, with diverse repertoires ranging from Baroque to 20th-century music, including Classical and Romantic works. Each concert is curated in relation to its venue, allowing music and architecture to engage in a dialogue.

Two sessions between summer and autumn

The festival is divided into two distinct sessions: a summer session in August, at the height of the tourist season, and an autumn session in September, during a quieter period particularly cherished by music lovers from France, Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Alongside the concerts, the association organizes artistic residencies for musicians and painters, strengthening the bond between the Salento region and contemporary artistic creation.

Alessano and Lower Salento

The heart of the festival is Palazzo Sangiovanni, a historic residence overlooking Piazza Castello in Alessano, a village that preserves a precious old town center and is linked to the memory of Don Tonino Bello. Attending a Muse Salentine concert means experiencing music in an authentic setting, far from large concert halls, immersed in the light and scents of the Salento countryside. An experience that combines artistic excellence, historical heritage, and the warm hospitality of Puglia.
