About Spaesaggi

Spaesaggi Festival is a free world music review that enlivens the Bolognese Apennines every summer, in the Municipality of Grizzana Morandi (Province of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna). Born from the union of the words "paesaggio" (landscape) and "spaesamento" (disorientation/displacement), the festival offers concerts by artists from all cultures in evocative locations such as the famous Rocchetta Mattei, the village of Campolo, Montovolo, and La Scola. A widespread event that intertwines music, excursions, and regeneration of mountain villages.

A widespread festival in the Bolognese Apennines

Spaesaggi Festival is one of the most original cultural offerings of the summer in the Bolognese Apennines. It takes place in the Municipality of Grizzana Morandi, in the Province of Bologna, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, and transforms this mountain corner into a crossroads of sounds, landscapes, and cultures for a few days. The name itself tells the soul of the event: "Spaesaggi" is born from the fusion of paesaggio (landscape) and spaesamento (disorientation/displacement), meaning the search for new musical territories through concerts from all over the world.

Extraordinary locations, from Rocchetta Mattei to the villages

The festival is a widespread event that moves through some of the most fascinating places in the area. The symbolic heart is the Rocchetta Mattei, the extravagant castle built in the 19th century by Count Cesare Mattei, but the evenings also move to the village of Campolo, the Casa delle Arti del Palagio, the sanctuary of Montovolo, and the ancient Borgo La Scola. Each concert thus becomes an opportunity to discover a piece of the Apennines and to experience the landscape in a slow and participatory way.

World music and free admission

The program focuses on world music and the encounter between cultures, with orchestras, ensembles, and soloists ranging from jazz to Latin sounds, from singer-songwriter music to popular traditions. All concerts are free admission, without reservation, subject to availability. Alongside the evening events, the festival offers musical masterclasses, excursions on foot and by bicycle along the area's trails, and workshops designed to involve the local community.

A regeneration project

Spaesaggi is not just a series of concerts, but part of a broader project for the cultural and tourism regeneration of the Apennines. The event is in fact linked to the pilot project "Da Campolo l'arte fa Scola", funded by PNRR funds within the Borghi Program, which aims to revitalize small mountain centers by enhancing their natural and cultural heritage and connecting them to slow tourism routes such as the Ciclovia del Sole and the Via della Lana e della Seta.

Who organizes it

The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Grizzana Morandi together with the Union of Municipalities of the Bolognese Apennines, with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region. For updated information on the program, times, and locations, please consult the official website spaesaggi.it.
