The Apulian natural and artisanal wine fair in Bari
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Sovra Naturale is one of the first fairs in Southern Italy entirely dedicated to natural, artisanal, and biodynamic wine. The event brings together producers, industry professionals, and enthusiasts around a clear vision of viticulture: respect for the land, ethical farming, the protection of biodiversity, and minimal intervention in the cellar. It has evolved from a niche event into a true laboratory of taste, open to the entire city.
The festival began in 2023 at the Norman-Swabian Castle of Sannicandro di Bari, where its historic halls hosted dozens of tasting stands for two editions. From the third edition onwards, the event moved to the heart of the City of Bari, spread across Piazza del Ferrarese, Spazio Murat, and the former Fish Marketโthree iconic locations in the old town that overlook the port and the Adriatic Sea. This expansion has brought natural wine to the center of city life in the capital of Puglia.
The core of the fair is the Wine Salon, featuring over 50 producers from across Italy and various European countries, offering open tastings at the stands. Notable wineries that have participated in Sovra Naturale include Foradori (Trentino), Radikon (Friuli), Dettori (Sardinia), and the Alsatian Pierre Frick, a pioneer of biodynamics and wines without added sulfites. Alongside the wine, visitors can discover extra virgin olive oil, cheeses, and typical products from the Apulian territory.
Sovra Naturale is a multidisciplinary event: the wine program is complemented by masterclasses, talks, book presentations, documentary screenings, photography exhibitions, show cooking, and DJ sets. The opening party combines wine service, electronic music, and a food area, while the talks delve into themes such as sustainability, nature conservation, and food and wine culture. The format is designed to appeal to both industry insiders and curious members of the public.
The festival is conceived by a group of young Apulian organizers and is supported by the Leone Agency, with the patronage of the City of Bari and the University of Bari Aldo Moro, and the contribution of the Regional Council of Puglia. It is an event that showcases a side of Puglia attentive to quality, the environment, and a different way of understanding wine.
At the moment, the organizers of Sovra Naturale have not yet confirmed the dates and program for the 2026 edition. The event, dedicated to natural and artisanal wine, usually takes place in the autumn in the City of Bari. To stay updated on the calendar, producers, and tickets for the 2026 edition, we recommend following the fair's official channels.
The fair venues (Spazio Murat, Piazza del Ferrarese, former Fish Market) are located in the historic center of Bari, just a short walk from the seafront and the old town (Bari Vecchia). The Bari Centrale train station is about a 15-minute walk away. If arriving by car, we recommend using parking facilities in the central area, as much of the district is pedestrianized.
Entry to the Wine Salon requires a ticket (tasting pass with glass included). Some events, such as brunches and masterclasses, require separate booking. Advance booking through the event's official channels is recommended.
