Contemporary art and Nebbiolo in the Novara hills
Sorsi di Materia is an enocultural event held at the La Piemontina winery in Sizzano, in the Province of Novara, Piedmont. The event was born from a clear vision: to bring wine, art, and the landscape into conversation, transforming a day at the winery into a complete sensory experience. Between Sizzano and Ghemme, at the foot of Monte Rosa, the Novara hills provide the backdrop for an appointment that unites the great tradition of Alpine Nebbiolo with contemporary artistic research.
The visual heart of the event is the exhibition dedicated to artist Francesco "Moscolo" Andreotti, whose painting is described as physical, composed of matter, marks, incisions, and erasures. His series, including Inciso and Parole Celate, engage with the spaces of the winery and the very substance of wine, drawing a parallel between the work of the artist and that of the winemaker: both shape matter, leave marks, and build over time.
La Piemontina is one of the most interesting estates in Upper Piedmont, committed to promoting indigenous grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and white grapes. During Sorsi di Materia, tastings focus on the estate's own Nebbiolo and local appellations, such as Ghemme DOCG, accompanied by typical local products: cured meats, cheeses, bread, and breadsticks.
The event offers guided paths designed to lead visitors through the discovery of the winery and its wines:
Sorsi di Materia is more than just a tasting: it is a cultural project that tells the story of the rebirth of Nebbiolo in the Novara hills and the deep bond between the winery and its land. Live music accompanies the two days, creating a convivial and refined atmosphere. For the Municipality of Sizzano and the entire Upper Piedmont area, the initiative represents an opportunity for wine tourism and cultural promotion, attracting wine and art enthusiasts from across the region.
The first edition of Sorsi di Materia was held on May 16 and 17, 2026, at the La Piemontina winery in Sizzano (Province of Novara), with hours from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday and from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM on Sunday.
The highlight was the exhibition by artist Francesco "Moscolo" Andreotti, featuring the Inciso and Parole Celate series, in dialogue with the estate's Nebbiolo. The public could choose between the Star Experience (30 euros) and the Vip Experience (35 euros, including a guided tour of the winery), both featuring tastings paired with cured meats, cheeses, and local products, accompanied by live music.
