The snail, queen of the table in the medieval castle of Sorbolongo
The Sorbolongo Snail Festival is a historic event of the Marche summer, reaching its 51st edition in 2026. It takes place in Sorbolongo, a charming hamlet of the Municipality of Sant'Ippolito, in the hilly hinterland of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. Founded in the 1970s on the initiative of the village inhabitants, it is today one of the oldest and most beloved food and wine events in the region, capable of attracting thousands of visitors every year through the alleys of the medieval castle.
The heart of the festival is the snail, prepared according to traditional peasant recipes of the Marche region. At the food stalls and in the Snail Tavern with table service, you can taste the great classics: baked and stewed snails, tagliatelle with snail ragรน, and polenta with snail sauce, accompanied by typical local products. To complete the offer, the Snail Wine Bar offers a selection of quality wines from the Marche hills to pair with the festival dishes.
The 51st edition takes place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2026. The opening evening on Friday features a gourmet dinner curated by chef Roberto Dormicchi, followed by music from DJ Martina.
In addition to food, the festival offers many activities for all ages: on Saturday and Sunday, there will be workshops, face painting, inflatable games, and target shooting, while the artisan and local product market enlivens the village alleys. The evenings are dedicated to ballroom dancing with orchestras and live music, in a popular and family-friendly atmosphere that is the true hallmark of Sorbolongo.
The event is organized by ACS Sorbolongo with the support of the local community. Visiting the festival is also an opportunity to discover the small medieval castle of Sorbolongo and the territory of Sant'Ippolito, famous in the Marche for the tradition of stonemasons and sandstone processing. Admission to the festival is free.
