International Soling class sailing regatta on Lake Resia
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Soling Italian Championship & Soling Alpencup – Reschensee is an international sailing regatta dedicated to the Soling class, the historic three-person Olympic keelboat. The event takes place on the waters of Lake Resia (Reschensee), the large alpine reservoir located at nearly 1,500 meters above sea level in the municipality of Curon Venosta/Graun im Vinschgau, in the Upper Venosta Valley, in the far northwest of South Tyrol/Südtirol.
Lake Resia is famous throughout Italy for the submerged bell tower of the old village of Curon, which emerges from the water, making it one of the most photographed landscapes in the region. On this body of water framed by the mountains bordering Austria and Switzerland, sailing finds ideal conditions: the constant and steady winds descending from the Resia Pass (the "Oberwind") ensure technical and spectacular race courses, highly appreciated by crews from across the Alps.
The event combines two major titles into a single weekend: the Italian Soling Championship, valid for the national class ranking in Italy, and the Soling Alpencup, a round of the alpine circuit that gathers crews from Italy, Germany, and Austria. In some editions, the program has also been enriched with races for other guest classes, such as the Longtze Alps Trophy.
The event is organized by the Segelverein Reschensee, the local sailing club, in collaboration with Italian Soling class clubs. The regattas consist of multiple races spread over the weekend, with starts staggered between Saturday and Sunday. The race area is located near the villages of Resia (Reschen) and Curon, easily accessible along the Resia Pass state road.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the regatta is an opportunity to experience the Upper Venosta Valley: the municipality of Curon Venosta/Graun im Vinschgau and the nearby villages of the Reschenpass offer cycle paths along the lake, hiking trails, and the chance to discover a bilingual territory where Italian and South Tyrolean cultures coexist.
The 2026 edition of the Soling class sailing regatta on Lake Resia is expected in the municipality of Curon Venosta/Graun im Vinschgau (South Tyrol/Südtirol). At this time, the Segelverein Reschensee has not yet communicated the official dates or the race program. Information regarding the Italian Soling Championship, the Soling Alpencup, and guest classes will be released via the club's website. We recommend checking the notice of race before planning your trip.
Lake Resia is located on the SS40 Resia Pass road, in the municipality of Curon Venosta/Graun im Vinschgau (Upper Venosta Valley). By car, from the Bolzano Sud exit of the A22 motorway, continue along the Venosta Valley to Resia. By train, the nearest station is Malles Venosta (Merano–Malles line), with onward connections by bus.
The program, registration details, and the notice of race are published on the Segelverein Reschensee website. Hotel accommodation is provided by facilities in Resia, Curon, and the Reschenpass area.
