The summer festival of Solarino

Solarino Summer is the event series through which the Municipality of Solarino, in the province of Syracuse, enlivens the summer season. For several weeks, from July until the end of September, this town on the Hyblaean plateau transforms into a widespread stage: the centre of the programme is the scenic Piazza del Plebiscito, the civic and social heart of the town, complemented by other public spaces throughout the municipal area.

A multidisciplinary programme

The strength of the festival lies in the variety of its offerings. The calendar weaves together live music and DJ sets, theatre, conferences and cultural meetings, open-air cinema, sports events, religious moments, and food festivals dedicated to local flavours. It is a programme built to involve the entire community and passing visitors, with events suitable for both adults and children.

Free admission and community spirit

One of the hallmarks of Solarino Summer is free admission to most events: the festival was born as a cultural and social service offered by the municipal administration, with the support of the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity of the Sicilian Region. It is an opportunity to enjoy summer evenings outdoors, gather in the square, and rediscover the identity of a small Sicilian village.

Solarino and the Hyblaean plateau

Solarino is a municipality in the province of Syracuse, in Sicily, located on the Hyblaean plateau a short distance from the provincial capital. Its regular urban layout, with the large Piazza del Plebiscito acting as a fulcrum, offers the ideal setting for a widespread summer festival that enhances the historic centre and community life. The dates and programme for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the recurring summer event is traditionally made public by the Municipality in the weeks preceding the start of the season.
