The summer event series in the Municipality of Priolo Gargallo
The Priolo Summer Festival is the summer event series through which the Municipality of Priolo Gargallo, located in the province of Syracuse in the heart of south-eastern Sicily, enlivens its urban center during the hottest months of the year. It is not a single event but a true widespread program, built each year with the collaboration of the Pro Loco and numerous local associations, bringing together shows, live music, entertainment, sports, and folk traditions.
The common thread of the event is the idea of a community celebration, open and accessible to all: the appointments mostly take place outdoors, in the squares and public spaces of the town, and are entirely free. The program alternates concerts, musical evenings with bands, singers, and DJs, street performer shows, circus acts, magic, entertainment, and workshops for children.
One of the most popular spaces is the Largo dell'Autonomia Comunale, which during the opening weekends transforms into a large open-air entertainment village, with inflatable structures, group dances, hot air balloon rides for children, and the charming giant kite festival.
The municipal administration, led by Mayor Pippo Gianni, describes the Priolo Summer Festival as a community program whose goal is to "get the town moving" by focusing on integration, participation, sports, and entertainment. Even in the absence of big national names, the strength of the event lies precisely in its local roots and the direct involvement of the associative entities of Priolo Gargallo.
The festival traditionally kicks off in June, with an inaugural weekend dedicated to families and children, and then continues in the following weeks until September, with a dense calendar of evening appointments. Each year, the Municipality publishes a public notice aimed at local artists, musical groups, and DJs to compose the summer program, a sign of an event built from the ground up and in dialogue with the cultural fabric of Priolo.
The 2026 edition opened on the weekend of June 20th and 21st at the Largo dell'Autonomia Comunale, which was transformed into a large open-air entertainment village, active from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM with entirely free admission.
Saturday was dedicated to performing arts and entertainment for children, while Sunday offered special events for families. The festival continues throughout the summer season, until September, with a calendar of musical evenings and shows still being finalized.
The rest of the summer program, featuring musical evenings, concerts, and shows until September, is being compiled by the Municipality through a public notice aimed at local artists, musical groups, singers, and DJs: the detailed program of individual appointments will be announced in the following weeks.
The events take place in various spaces within the municipal territory of Priolo Gargallo (SR), with the Largo dell'Autonomia Comunale being one of the main venues for the festival.
Priolo Gargallo is located along the Syracuse coast, easily reachable by car via the SS114 between Syracuse and Augusta. The Priolo railway station is served by the Syracuse-Catania-Messina line.
All appointments of the Priolo Summer Festival are free and open to the public.
The updated program is released by the Municipality of Priolo Gargallo and the organizing associations.
