The music festival on the Romagna hill, between big international names and new voices from the Italian scene
Sogliano Sonica is the music review that lights up Piazza Matteotti every summer, in the historic center of Sogliano al Rubicone, a municipality in the Province of Forlì-Cesena, in the hilly hinterland of Emilia-Romagna. Born from the initiative of the Retropop Live Cultural Association, with the patronage of the Municipality of Sogliano al Rubicone, the festival has quickly established itself as one of the most recognizable events of the Romagna summer, thanks to a formula that combines the quality of the artistic offering and the intimate dimension of the village.
The hallmark of Sogliano Sonica is its mixed programming: each edition pairs a major international name with the most interesting protagonists of the new Italian scene, including singer-songwriters, electronic music, hip hop, and fusions. It is a festival that does not pursue pure mass entertainment, but builds a listening experience where the audience discovers emerging artists alongside established icons.
Part of Sogliano Sonica's charm lies in its location: you climb towards the village winding through the hills, admire the hinterland panorama, and enter the square after savoring the local flavors, from piadina to Romagna wines. Sogliano al Rubicone is famous for its 'formaggio di fossa' (pit cheese), an iconic local product: the festival thus fits into a context of strong gastronomic and landscape identity.
From one edition to the next, the festival has raised the bar, bringing nationally and internationally renowned artists to the stage and confirming the ability of a small municipality in Emilia-Romagna to create a quality cultural offering. For those who love live music away from the big urban circuits, Sogliano Sonica is the ideal choice: two intense evenings, a single stage, and the authentic atmosphere of a Romagna village.
The fifth edition of Sogliano Sonica confirms the festival's winning formula: one evening dedicated to a major international name and one dedicated to the languages of the new contemporary scene. This year, the festival has moved its dates to July, in Piazza Matteotti, in the village of Sogliano al Rubicone.
On July 22nd, Skunk Anansie takes the stage, the historic British band led by the voice of Skin, a symbol of visceral and politically conscious alternative rock: for Emilia-Romagna, this is their only date this summer. On July 23rd, space is given to new Italian visions with faccianuvola, blending singer-songwriter and electronic music, and Fresh Mula, who mixes hip hop, jazz, and Afro influences.
Concert start times will be announced by the organization closer to the event.
