Every spring, Siena reaffirms its deep connection to the world of cycling. Following the Strade Bianche in early March, the city of the Palio hosts the Siena Sport Experience – Bike Festival in May. This event, promoted by the Municipality of Siena, turns the Giardini della Lizza into a bustling village dedicated to cycling, outdoor sports, and social gatherings for four days. The festival blends competitive racing, regional promotion, gastronomy, and entertainment, drawing enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors to the heart of Siena, in the province of Siena, Tuscany.
A festival for all ages
The Bike Festival is designed to be inclusive for everyone. Alongside cycling races, there are promotional activities for children, such as Bimbimbici organized by Fiab and Pedale Senese, cultural moments with talks and meetings, and a rich international street food area open throughout the event. The program also includes live music, evening DJ sets, and numerous initiatives by local volunteer associations, ranging from blood donation drives to health awareness campaigns.
Eroica and the white roads
The core of the festival is its bond with the Eroica brand. The Eroica village is set up at the Giardini della Lizza, serving as the starting point for the Eroica Juniores Siena-Montalcino – Coppa Andrea Meneghelli. This international race for the junior category winds through the legendary white roads of the Sienese territory, finishing in Piazza del Popolo in Montalcino. It is a premier event that showcases young global cycling talent, featuring both Italian and international teams, confirming Siena as a capital of gravel cycling.
The Legality Ride
Among the most heartfelt events is the Pedalata della Legalità, a charity ride open to all with a strong social and civic message, organized by Fiab. The initiative combines sport, participation, and social commitment, with registration proceeds donated to local associations working to combat violence against women and children.
Sport, culture, and fun
The program alternates between races and cycle tourism with cultural deep dives: meetings on the history of Sienese cycling, talks on the relationship between cycling and art, team presentations, and award ceremonies with pasta parties. The Siena Sport Experience – Bike Festival is a widespread event that celebrates the bicycle as a sport, a passion, and a tool for promoting the Tuscan territory.

The 2026 edition
Promoted by the Municipality of Siena, the 2026 edition enlivened the Giardini della Lizza from May 21 to 24 with a program that intertwined sport, culture, gastronomy, and solidarity. The most anticipated moment was the start of the Eroica Juniores Siena-Montalcino – Coppa Andrea Meneghelli, now in its sixth prestigious international edition, with 29 teams at the start, including 8 foreign teams and the Italian national team.

Practical information — Siena Bike Festival
Getting there
The Giardini della Lizza are located just a short walk from the historic center of Siena, near the Fortezza Medicea. By train: arrive at Siena station, then take a city bus or walk about 20 minutes toward the center. By car: take the Siena Ovest exit from the Florence-Siena highway; parking is available near the Fortezza (Stadio, Il Campo) and the Lizza area.
Admission and registration
Access to the village, street food area, and entertainment events is generally free. The races and rides (such as the Pedalata della Legalità and the Eroica Juniores) require specific registration: please check the official website and the Municipality of Siena's channels for details and fees.
Tips
Bring comfortable clothing and your own bicycle if you plan to participate in the rides. The street food area is perfect for lunches and dinners during the event.
