A celebration of creativity, music, theatre, poetry, and inclusion in Comiso
The Sicily Artists' Festival is a cultural event that enlivens the Iblean territory, acting as a hub for different disciplines and generations to meet. Born from an idea by Maurizio Di Mauro, the festival has established a clear identity over the years: it is not a mere competition, but an opportunity to foster connections that help the entire artistic movement grow. The edition connecting Ragusa and Comiso reinforces this mission, weaving together music, theatre, poetry, painting, and performing arts into a shared journey.
The event is split between the Municipality of Ragusa, where training sessions take place at the Teatro Leader, and the Municipality of Comiso, in the Province of Ragusa, where the heart of the festival beats within the Municipal Art Gallery. Comiso, an art city in south-eastern Sicily linked to the memory of the Bufalino and Lo Curzio brothers, provides a refined setting for a programme that brings together different languages and sensibilities.
The programme alternates high-profile musical moments with theatrical and literary incursions. Highlights include classical guitar concerts, poetry recitals, and theatrical adaptations that reinterpret great classics in a contemporary key, such as the comedy Lysistrata โ Power to Women based on Aristophanes. The festival also features singing performances, artistic displays, creative painting sessions, cabaret, and entertainment that actively involves the audience.
One of the distinctive elements of the Artists' Festival is its focus on inclusion. The event opens its doors to artists of all ages and backgrounds, valuing talent beyond any barriers, and dedicates space to meetings aimed at solidarity associations, disability sector professionals, and families, with conferences dedicated to music therapy and well-being.
With free admission and open to all, the Sicily Artists' Festival is a participatory and accessible event that unites the community of Comiso and the surrounding Iblean area through creativity. More than just a stage for a select few, it is an invitation to anyone who wishes to share a dream made of art, listening, and human connection.
The 2026 edition takes place between Ragusa and Comiso. In Ragusa, on June 13 at the Teatro Leader, a dubbing masterclass titled The Art of Dubbing, from Text to Microphone will be held, led by Perla Liberatori and Marco Altini. The heart of the festival then moves to Comiso on July 10 and 11, at the Municipal Art Gallery.
Among the protagonists is a joint performance by concertist Samuel Vaccaro, a master of classical guitar, and maestro Dario Adamo, a dialogue between different artistic languages. There will also be a poetry recital by Maurizio Damiano and the comedy Lysistrata โ Power to Women, a reworking of the Aristophanes classic presented by the association A regolad'Arte โ Progetti e Ricerca.
On Friday, July 11, the music therapy conference Path of the Mind is scheduled, led by Saro Ingegneri and aimed at solidarity associations, disability sector professionals, and families. Admission to all events is free.
Comiso is located in the Province of Ragusa, in south-eastern Sicily. By car, it can be reached via the SS115 and SP5 roads; Comiso Airport (Pio La Torre) is just a few kilometres from the centre. The Comiso railway station is connected to the Syracuse-Gela line.
The Comiso events take place in the spaces of the Municipal Art Gallery (Pinacoteca Comunale) of Comiso.
Admission to all events is free.
