Sicilian street food and traditions on the Viverone lakefront
The Sicilian Festival transforms the Parco Ignazio Tarello—the green space overlooking the Viverone lakefront—into a corner of Sicily in the heart of Piedmont for an entire weekend. The event is organized by A' Vucciria Sicilia Street Food, in collaboration with the APS Sicilia Promotion association, and is part of a traveling circuit that brings the flavors and traditions of the island throughout Italy. In Viverone, in the province of Biella, the event chooses one of the most evocative settings in the region: the shores of Lake Viverone, one of the most fascinating morainic lakes in the northwest.
The heart of the festival is the large area dedicated to street food, where stalls offer the most beloved specialties of Sicilian rotisserie and street cuisine. Unmissable highlights include:
The dishes are paired with craft beers and selected wines, creating an experience that recalls the lively atmosphere of Palermo's historic markets, from Vucciria to Ballarò.
Beyond the culinary offerings, the Sicilian Festival features entertainment, music, and performances that recreate the colors and sounds of the island. The traveling format often includes appearances by guest performers, folk displays, and social moments designed to engage families and visitors of all ages.
Set in the municipality of Viverone, in Piedmont, the event combines the discovery of Sicilian cuisine with the pleasure of a stroll along the lakefront. Admission is free and the area remains open continuously from morning until late at night, making it perfect for both a lunch break and an open-air dinner by the lake. It is an opportunity to savor Sicily without leaving the Biella area, in one of the most beloved spots for lake tourism in Piedmont.
The 2026 Sicilian Festival brought the Viverone lakefront to life from April 24 to 26, in the green area of Parco Ignazio Tarello, near the Hotel Royal. Organized by A' Vucciria Sicilia Street Food, this Biella stop featured three days of island street food stalls serving arancini, pani ca meusa, stigghiola, mixed fried seafood, pasta with sardines, and traditional sweets like cannoli and cassate, all accompanied by craft beers and wines.
Alongside the food, the event offered music, entertainment, and performances that recreated the atmosphere of Palermo's historic markets, with continuous hours from 10:00 AM until late at night and free admission overlooking Lake Viverone.
Three days (Friday 24, Saturday 25, and Sunday 26 April 2026) with continuous hours from 10:00 AM to midnight. Sicilian street food area with food stalls, traditional pastry counters, and a selection of craft beers and wines, accompanied by music and entertainment along the lakefront.
Viverone is located in the province of Biella, along the shores of Lake Viverone. By car, it can be reached via the A4/A5 motorway (Santhià or Albiano d'Ivrea exits); Parco Ignazio Tarello and the lakefront area are near the Hotel Royal. By train, the reference station is Santhià , which is connected by local buses.
The event runs continuously, approximately from 10:00 AM until midnight. Admission is free; food and drinks can be purchased at the individual stalls.
As this is an outdoor event on the lakefront, comfortable shoes are recommended; on busier days, it is advisable to arrive a little early to find parking nearby.
