Two days of tradition, flavors, and entertainment in the heart of Calatafimi-Segesta
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sicilian Evenings are a summer event that transforms the village of Calatafimi-Segesta, in the province of Trapani, into an open-air stage dedicated to the traditions of Western Sicily. Promoted by the municipal administration together with the Cavalieri 360 APS association and included in the town's summer event calendar, this two-day festival combines popular culture, food and wine, and live entertainment in the charming historic center.
One of the most anticipated moments is the parade of Sicilian carts, which travels through the streets of the center, showcasing one of the most recognizable symbols of the island's identity: hand-painted carts featuring vibrant colors and decorations that tell tales of chivalry and religion. The cart display is complemented by photo exhibitions, street performers, and musical groups that enliven the squares and alleys.
On the Tre Croci grounds, the "Sicilia Alleva" equestrian shows take center stage, dedicated to the world of horses and Sicilian equestrian traditions. It is an opportunity to admire horses and riders in action, in a setting that highlights the deep bond between the local area and horse breeding.
The gastronomic aspect is the beating heart of the evenings: the highlights are the festival of pasta with garlic and breadcrumbs, a humble yet iconic dish of Trapani cuisine, and the cassatella festival, the famous local fried pastry filled with ricotta. To complete the experience, there are local wine tastings held at Castello Eufemio, an ancient fortress overlooking the village.
The nights conclude with live music: among the most beloved events is the concert by the Pooh tribute band at the Belvedere, a panoramic viewpoint that provides the perfect backdrop for the festival finale. Craft markets, tastings, and entertainment keep visitors engaged until late in the evening.
Located just a few kilometers from the famous Doric Temple of Segesta, in Sicily, Calatafimi-Segesta offers the perfect opportunity with the Sicilian Evenings to discover a village rich in history, traditions, and authentic flavors, far from the most beaten tourist paths of the Trapani province.
