Ten days of concerts scattered throughout the heart of Sesto Fiorentino
Every year, around June 21st—the summer solstice and the symbolic date of the Music Festival celebrated throughout Italy and in over a hundred countries worldwide—Sesto Fiorentino fills with music. Located in the northern outskirts of Florence, in the heart of Tuscany, the town hosts a widespread program spanning about ten days in mid-to-late June, turning the city's historic landmarks into intimate, open-air stages.
The concept is to bring music out of the concert halls and directly to the people in their everyday surroundings. The evenings take place in evocative settings throughout the Sesto area, including the Cloister of the Pieve di San Martino, the Cloister of Villa San Lorenzo, the Ragionieri Library, and local districts like Colonnata and Cercina. The repertoire ranges from classical music to musical theatre, vocal ensembles, and concerts dedicated to families and children.
The event is the result of a collaboration between the Pro Loco of Sesto Fiorentino, the Municipality of Sesto Fiorentino, and numerous local musical organizations, including the Art Music AcademY, the Bruno Bartoletti Music School, the Coro Toscantando, the Sesto Incanto Association, and the Orchestra Sarabanda 2014 APS. They provide the voices and instruments for a festival that highlights local talent, from young music students to established ensembles.
The Sesto Fiorentino Music Festival is above all a community celebration: open-air evenings, free admission, and a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to enjoy good music under the summer sky. It is the perfect way to discover a lesser-known side of the Florentine Plain, far from the crowds of central Florence yet only minutes away from the Tuscan capital.
The Pro Loco of Sesto Fiorentino has announced the 2026 edition of the Music Festival, with concerts scattered throughout the city's historic sites around the symbolic date of June 21st. The event, organized in partnership with the Municipality and local musical associations, will feature the usual free open-air evenings at the Cloister of the Pieve di San Martino, Villa San Lorenzo, the Ragionieri Library, and other local districts.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including dates, times, venues, and performers for each evening, will be published by the Pro Loco in the days leading up to the event. For updates, we recommend following the association's official channels.
