Wednesday evenings in July featuring books, talks, and cinema in the park of the National Cinema Enterprise Archive
Sere d'estate – Books, Words and Films is a cultural festival that, every Wednesday in July, transforms the park of the National Cinema Enterprise Archive in Ivrea into an open-air meeting place dedicated to reading, dialogue, and great documentary cinema. The event takes place in the town of Ivrea, a symbol of the Olivetti industrial and cultural legacy, located in the heart of the Canavese area, in the province of Turin and the Piedmont region.
Every Wednesday, the festival offers a double feature: an early evening author talk and book presentation, often moderated by film critics and historians; followed by an outdoor screening of a documentary or film that resonates with the evening's theme. The common thread weaves together historical memory, labor culture, local identity, and cinematic storytelling.
The evenings are held in the garden of the former Olivetti nursery, designed by architect Ridolfi and now the home of the CSC-National Cinema Enterprise Archive on Viale della Liberazione. It is a space of profound symbolic value, part of the internationally recognized architectural and industrial heritage of Ivrea. In case of rain, screenings are moved inside the Archive.
The festival is promoted by the CSC-National Cinema Enterprise Archive in collaboration with the City of Ivrea, the Rosse Torri APS Cultural Association, and the Mondadori Bookstore in Ivrea. The synergy between cultural institutions, the municipal administration, and local associations ensures a high-quality program every year, always with free admission.
Sere d'estate is now a staple of the Ivrea summer: an invitation to enjoy the mild July evenings in the company of books, words, and films, in the greenery of one of the most evocative spots in Ivrea.
The Sere d'estate festival returns in 2026 with its Wednesday events in July at the park of the National Cinema Enterprise Archive in Ivrea, running until July 22nd. The initiative, promoted by the City of Ivrea together with the CSC-National Cinema Enterprise Archive, the Rosse Torri Association, and the Mondadori Bookstore, confirms the usual format combining literary meetings and outdoor film screenings.
The evenings, with free admission, feature a book presentation with the author in the early evening and, after sunset, the screening of a documentary or film. The full program with dates, titles, and guests will be announced by the organizers closer to the event.
The National Cinema Enterprise Archive park is located at Viale della Liberazione 4 in Ivrea (TO). By train, the Ivrea station is connected to Turin; by car, it can be reached via the A5 Turin-Aosta motorway, taking the Ivrea exit.
Events take place on Wednesdays in July, typically with an author talk in the early evening followed by a film screening after sunset.
All events are free and open to the public.
