A festival that tells the story of Acate

September in Biscari is the autumn cultural festival of the Municipality of Acate, in the province of Ragusa, in the heart of south-eastern Sicily. Gathered under the evocative title "Autumn Emotions," the event offers a packed calendar for several weeks, ranging from theater to music, book presentations to dance, and cultural meetings open to the public.

The festival venues

Events take place in various locations around the city. The hub is Villa Margherita, the open-air space that hosts evening performances, but the festival also involves the historic center and the evocative corners in the shadow of the Castello dei Principi di Biscari, the noble residence that gives its name to the ancient village. Acate, in fact, was called Biscari until 1938, and this historical legacy permeates the entire identity of the town.

Theater, music, and culture

The program alternates between plays, concerts, and cultural deep-dives. The theater evenings feature brilliant comedies performed by local Iblean companies, while the concerts span various genres, enlivening the squares and open-air spaces of the town. The festival is held between the end of summer and autumn, traditionally spanning the months of September and October. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Municipality of Acate.
