About Semberc Medievale

Semberc Medievale transports the village of Cimbergo, in Valle Camonica, back in time to the foot of its medieval castle. For two days, the historic center transforms into an encampment from another era, featuring food markets, artisans, workshops for children and adults, fire shows, concerts, and guided tours of the famous UNESCO World Heritage rock art sites. An immersive historical re-enactment, organized by the Historical and Anthropological Society of Valle Camonica, which blends history, archaeology, and popular celebration in the heart of the province of Brescia.

A journey into the Camunian Middle Ages

In Cimbergo, located in Valle Camonica in the province of Brescia, the Cimbergo Castle stands on a rocky spur overlooking the village: a medieval fortress dating back to the 12th-13th centuries. It is in this setting that Semberc Medievale comes to life, a re-enactment that revives the echoes of a distant past within the castle walls and the streets of the historic center.

Markets, fire, and rock carvings

The program weaves together the various spirits of this medieval festival:

  • Food markets and artisan stalls
  • Workshops for children and adults
  • Fire shows and concerts
  • Guided tours of rock art sites

The rock carvings are precisely what make Cimbergo a special place: the municipality is part of the regional reserve of rock carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the re-enactment serves as an opportunity to discover this extraordinary archaeological heritage.

A festival for the whole valley

Organized by the Historical and Anthropological Society of Valle Camonica, Semberc Medievale is a staple in the Valle Camonica events calendar, attracting visitors from across the region. Free admission and its immersive format make it a perfect event for families and history enthusiasts alike, successfully combining re-enactment, culture, and conviviality in one of the most charming villages in the province of Brescia.
