The Middle Ages come alive at Cimbergo Castle, in Valle Camonica
In Cimbergo, located in Valle Camonica in the province of Brescia, the Cimbergo Castle stands on a rocky spur overlooking the village: a medieval fortress dating back to the 12th-13th centuries. It is in this setting that Semberc Medievale comes to life, a re-enactment that revives the echoes of a distant past within the castle walls and the streets of the historic center.
The program weaves together the various spirits of this medieval festival:
The rock carvings are precisely what make Cimbergo a special place: the municipality is part of the regional reserve of rock carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the re-enactment serves as an opportunity to discover this extraordinary archaeological heritage.
Organized by the Historical and Anthropological Society of Valle Camonica, Semberc Medievale is a staple in the Valle Camonica events calendar, attracting visitors from across the region. Free admission and its immersive format make it a perfect event for families and history enthusiasts alike, successfully combining re-enactment, culture, and conviviality in one of the most charming villages in the province of Brescia.
The 2026 edition of Semberc Medievale is scheduled for July 25th and 26th at the Castle of Cimbergo, as part of the official Valle Camonica events calendar. The village travels back to the Middle Ages with food and craft markets, workshops for children and adults, fire shows, concerts, and guided tours of the rock engraving sites. The event is organized by the Historical and Anthropological Society of Valle Camonica and admission is free.
Admission is free, and the event will take place rain or shine. On both days (starting at 2:30 PM on Saturday and 9:30 AM on Sunday): roaming music and entertainment, a historical camp with re-enactors in period costumes, traditional arts and crafts markets, and medieval workshops and games.
