A celebration of seafood and local cuisine at the San Gabriele churchyard in Gallipoli
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sea Flavors Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the Gallipoli summer. Organized by the San Gabriele dell'Addolorata Parish, the event brings the churchyard on Via Enrico Berlinguer to life, turning it into a large open-air restaurant where the fish of the Ionian Sea takes center stage. We are in Gallipoli, the "Beautiful City" in the province of Lecce, in the Salento region of Puglia: here, the bond between the sea and the kitchen is part of the city's identity, and the festival celebrates it dish by dish.
The menu is a compendium of Salento's maritime tradition, prepared according to authentic recipes using fresh ingredients. Highlights from the stalls include:
The quality of the raw ingredients is, as the organizers love to repeat, the true hallmark of the festival: this is what has made the event a reference point over the years for those who love to discover the typical flavors of the Gallipoli sea.
Beyond the gastronomy, the evening offers live music and karaoke in a popular festive atmosphere that involves entire families until late at night. In recent years, attendance has exceeded 3,000 people, including Gallipoli locals and tourists vacationing on the Ionian coast of Salento.
Reaching its twelfth edition in 2025, the Sea Flavors Festival is now a permanent fixture on the Gallipoli summer calendar. Born as an initiative of the San Gabriele parish community, it takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Gallipoli and the Pro Loco Gallipoli A.P.S., usually between late July and early August. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: those wishing to attend can follow the official parish channels to find out the date and the final program.
Details for the 2026 edition of the Sea Flavors Festival have not yet been released by the organizers. Based on previous editions, the event is expected to feature the usual format: food stalls with Gallipoli seafood specialties (mixed fried fish, fresh mussels, seafood salad, swordfish, pittule), local wine, live music, and karaoke on the churchyard of the San Gabriele dell'Addolorata Parish. To find out the final date and program, it is recommended to follow the official channels of the parish and the Pro Loco Gallipoli.
