The traveling festival of the Gold Coast makes a stop in Cattolica Eraclea
The Sea and Taste Festival is a widespread summer event spanning ten coastal municipalities in Western Sicily, between the provinces of Agrigento and Trapani. Organized by the GAL FLAG Il Sole e l'Azzurro - Tra Selinunte, Sciacca e Vigata, the festival was created to highlight maritime resources and the identity of seaside villages, combining concerts, theater, cabaret, and local food and wine promotion.
The municipalities involved in the festival include Campobello di Mazara, Castelvetrano-Selinunte, Menfi, Sciacca, Ribera, Cattolica Eraclea, Montallegro, Siculiana, Realmonte, and Porto Empedocle. Each stage features an evening show in a square, an archaeological park, or a landmark of the host town.
In the Municipality of Cattolica Eraclea, in the province of Agrigento, the festival brings Piazza Roma to life with an evening concert that is part of the festival's rich calendar. The Eraclea stage highlights the town's historic center and is aimed at both residents and visitors spending their summer on the Agrigento coast.
The event reflects the spirit of the festival: bringing great singer-songwriter music and Sicilian culture to small towns, often far from the main circuits, by creating a dialogue between landscape, tradition, and modernity.
The Sea and Taste Festival stands out for a lineup that alternates between Italian and Sicilian singer-songwriters, jazz ensembles, and theater and cabaret performances. The common thread is the connection to the sea and seafood cuisine, in line with the mission of the FLAG, which works for the development of fishing communities on the so-called Gold Coast.
The traveling format allows for the discovery of different corners and places in Sicily, from archaeological parks to village squares. The Cattolica Eraclea stage represents one of the August events of the festival, during a period of high tourist influx along the Agrigento coastline. The event is promoted as part of the GAL FLAG activities and takes place in the Sicily Region.
The third edition of the Sea and Taste Festival brings the concert of Calandra & Calandra to Cattolica Eraclea, in the province of Agrigento, expected in Piazza Roma on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The duo is among the best-known names on the island's scene linked to singer-songwriting in dialect and Italian, with a repertoire that weaves folk, Mediterranean sounds, and narrative writing, telling the story of Sicilian culture through everyday images.
The 2026 festival is divided into ten events from June 20 to October 2: it opens with Sergio Cammariere at the Selinunte Archaeological Park and continues through Porto Empedocle, Montallegro, Realmonte, Siculiana, Sciacca, Cattolica Eraclea, Borgo Bonsignore, Campobello di Mazara, and Menfi, with artists such as the Giacomo Tantillo Quintet, Daria Biancardi, Salvo Piparo, Francesco Baccini, and Nino Buonocore.
Some shows require a symbolic ticket of 5 euros to manage access; free events still require mandatory reservation via the website flagsoleazzurro.it.
Cattolica Eraclea can be reached by car via the SS115 (Montallegro-Cattolica Eraclea exit) or the state road connecting Agrigento to Ribera. The nearest train station is in Agrigento, while the reference airports are Palermo Punta Raisi or Trapani Birgi.
Access to the shows is limited: some events require a symbolic ticket (5 euros) introduced to manage entries, while for free events, mandatory reservation is still required. Reservations can be made on the FLAG website (flagsoleazzurro.it).
We recommend arriving early for the square shows and combining the evening with a visit to the historic center of Cattolica Eraclea and the archaeological area of Eraclea Minoa.
