Great literature arrives in Bagnacavallo: free entry meetings with authors
ScrittuRa Festival is one of the most beloved literary reviews in Emilia-Romagna, capable of transforming the squares, libraries, theaters, and museums of Ravenna and Bassa Romagna into meeting places between authors and readers every May. The festival, directed by the Ravenna-based writer Matteo Cavezzali, is travelling: in addition to Ravenna and Lugo, it reaches several municipalities in the area, including Alfonsine, Castel Bolognese, Cotignola, Fusignano, Sant'Agata sul Santerno, and Bagnacavallo.
Bagnacavallo, a refined village in the province of Ravenna known for its famous elliptical Piazza Nuova, hosts one or more festival events each year. The meetings take place in symbolic cultural locations of the town, such as the cloister of the Biblioteca Taroni or the Arena Cinema delle Cappuccine, where authors engage in dialogue with the public, presenting their latest books. It is a precious opportunity for those living in this corner of Emilia-Romagna to hear prominent voices from the literary scene live, without having to travel to larger cities.
The strength of ScrittuRa Festival lies in its widespread nature: bringing great literature to even the smallest municipalities in Bassa Romagna, enhancing their cultural spaces. For Bagnacavallo, the stop represents a moment of cultural vibrancy that fits into the festival's rich tradition, now a benchmark for readers throughout the province of Ravenna.
The Bagnacavallo stop of the thirteenth edition of ScrittuRa Festival took place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Arena Cinema delle Cappuccine, with a double event dedicated to female narrative. The venue for the event was moved from the cloister of the Biblioteca Taroni to the Arena. Like all festival events, those in Bagnacavallo were also free entry, subject to availability.
Both meetings are free entry, subject to availability.
The evening double event with writers Chiara Moscardelli (Comprensorio Rossolago, Einaudi) and Marilù Oliva (Via delle streghe, Solferino).
The meetings in Bagnacavallo (province of Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna) are held in the town's cultural venues, such as the Arena Cinema delle Cappuccine or the cloister of the Biblioteca Taroni. The exact location is indicated in the official program each time.
